I just had a thought. It might not be a very good thought but here it is: what if the code is like a book cipher but based on one of their emails?

What if it's paragraph, sentence, letter....

That's interesting! I've tried with almost every article in the paper, but I hadn't thought about the emails...

Does anyone have the emails announcing Brain Butchers? If so will you please post them? I unfortunately have deleted mine so I can't check them.

I've only just got around to thinking about the box inner cover in depth, and like many others given that the first of volume four box's puzzle was entirely self-contained, it's attractive to think the same here too. And yes having HUSH HKSU feels like it should say something... But my point is I haven't seen anyone talk about the writing behind the contents cards: ...crup... ...r th.... ...riou... skullduggery Any thoughts on the complete statement, and might that help decode the box numbers?

Yes, I thought about that and I actually have something that fits....I just can't remember it at the moment. I will post it when I get home. And just another note. If you take the numbers on the labels in Box 2 and apply them to the labels in Box 1 using the same method that you got to get HUSH HSKU...you get another clear 4 letter word and the another 4 letter word that is gibberish...just like box 2

There aren't many options for "...CRUP..." Crupper or Scruple, or variations thereof.

I remember it now..."scruples is the saviour to skullduggery" or something very close to that. Not great grammatically, but it fits. and yes, I've tried scruples and skullduggery as all kinds of key words for deciphering with no luck.

I remember googling quotes that contained skullduggery and not getting anywhere. There's a book series called Skullduggery Pleasant, but I didn't get much farther than that.
