Can someone send me a cleaned up audio file or a transcript of the morse code? I can hear the dots, but not the dashes, if that makes any sense. I can't distinguish when a note is being held. Check your Private Messages.

Hi, kaaterdme! I am in the same situation you are. I have downloaded the Audacity sound editing app and am playing around with it. Plus, I have reached out to a couple of places that might be able to help with cleaning up the audio to hear the dots-and-dashes better. If I come up with anything, I will let you know!
In the meantime, if any helpful solvers have a resource they could point us towards, that would be fantastic!

Music and audio production is my second job. What I did was isolate the two frequencies that are used for the dots and dashes, and then used a notch filter to attenuate the rest of the spectrum and amplify those two frequencies. If you like, I can send you a link to the cleaned up file I made.

….okay, I actually have no idea what some of those words mean. LOL Clearly, this is a *bit* more complicated than I had anticipated it might be. (You know how graphics people go crazy when people in movies just click the magical “enhance” button in photoshop and it is wonderful? Yeah, I was imagining it worked exactly like that. My apologies to the entire audio engineering field!)
So, I am going to take you up on your helpful offer of the cleaned up file! (with tremendous thanks!)

Okay, from trial and error I have found the puzzle that doesn't exist. I think I know who doesn't belong, but I'm not sure what to do from there. I guess I need to decode the morse code, which I cannot seem to hear properly. The link to the cleaned up file would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the file Todd. I got the morse code, and found all of the puzzle that does not exist. Working on that now.

So I have Todd’s cleaned up version of the broadcast. I still can’t differentiate between the two different lengths of sounds.
(I’m on my phone and it won’t let me use spoiler mode so I’m going to try to obliquely reference things with out spoiling. Hopefully this will make sense)
I tried slowing down the audio file by changing the file type to an audiobook and using the feature of most audiobook playing apps to play the file slowly.
I have listened to the relevant beginning of the broadcast approx. 25+ times.
Basically I am saying that I don’t think I’m going to be able to do this part of the step.
Is there any way that I can be given the coded message in this broadcast to decode myself?
I realize this goes against what this community stands for.
Or perhaps if that is not acceptable, I could be given the first few “sounds” of the coded message. Perhaps if I compare them to the broadcast I can begin to hear the two lengths of noises.
I am willing to do the work to solve this puzzle but at this point I just keep listening to the broadcast and not making progress. Does anyone who had difficulty with this aspect of the puzzle have any suggestions about a strategy?

You should hear two pitches. One higher and one lower. The higher pitch is the dot, the lower the dash.

Is that cleaned up file still available?

Wow. This is challenge. I don't hear high tones so well, but at least playing it through Fission gives me a bit of a visual clue. I'd never be able to do this without Todd's file.

I think I ended up using some audio analysis software that let me do a frequency spectral graph so I could note things visually. The message fully repeats twice (and starts a third time) over the course of the broadcast, so you have multiple chances to hear each transmission.
I have notes with the message by time index, so I will check anyone's work. Just PM me if your unsure about any particular part.

Hello! Few years late to the party. Am I correct in thinking that broadcast 2 occurred between vol 1.05 and 2.01? I think I should do it, but I don’t want to accidentally skip ahead and spoil anything. Thanks!

I think I should do it, but I don’t want to accidentally skip ahead and spoil anything. Thanks! You're right about the timeline. But it's also ok to skip ahead and come back to the Second Broadcast...
