Some friends of mine have just got married and I was wondering if this would make a good gift? It's only as I'd like to address it to both of them and didn't want any arguments. Thanks also if this is in the wrong thread I apologise and ask the mods to kindly move it.

I dunno, I'd be hesitant to send this in that context. Yes, it's romantic in a sense, but there are two big caveats. One is that the storytelling, while interesting, is in my opinion by far the most muddled and vague of all of their experiences, and while some people have chosen to see the ending in a positive and romantic light, others (like myself) find it to be inconclusive and unsatisfying. Following that, and this is getting into spoiler territory, the two lovers are not reunited at the end. There's a chance that they will likely be reunited if you hold onto the artifact for them, but the vagueness of the storytelling makes that unclear. But again, this is just me; there are others here who have a much more positive feeling about Tempus Fugit, and may well recommend it. I'd wait to hear other's opinions before making your decision.

I would say, that as an old romantic myself who takes the upbeat ending in my own reading of the experience, that as a gift intended for a romantic couple, it's a great idea - IF you produce your own epilogue and send it to them post-crate (say, when they get the black letter saying it was a gift from you, they will go to you, say thanks, you can say - ah yes, I have this to hand over to you, and give them an aged sealed letter, written by one of the protagonists perhaps, thanking them for holding onto the artifact until (their wedding date + 50 years, so on their golden wedding anniversary) when they collected it and used it to reunite at their golden wedding party. "See you at the party, don't worry, it goes off well, despite the mad dancing by (you) - let us assure you that the police will release him without charge within 24 hours".

I agree with Exemplar - and so as not to say much further, I'll repeat "...the storytelling, while interesting, is in my opinion by far muddled and vague, and others (like myself) find it to be inconclusive and unsatisfying". The first mailing was definitely intriguing, it is the second that fits the description above closely. Thus while the recipient of my gift (a birthday) is still awaiting the artifact and reveal, he is not really engaged.
