Is it just me, or did the Vault disappear entirely? I'm not done with the puzzles from Volume 3, but I was close, so I'm having a bit of a tantrum over it right now. Definitely not a fan of this year's approach at all. 😒 The Vault for Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are still accessible. I just checked. As wortelboer mentioned, the Vaults for Volumes 1 and 2 did not become available until well after the final issue of the Volume had shipped. This gave the subscribers a level playing field in cracking the Vault, untainted by mail delivery times. If there is going to be a Volume 4 Vault, it would be nice if they resumed that approach. I just created a "faux" account because I wanted to check the hint for a Daylock. The Vault icon is gone...BUT...you can still access the Vault though...if you scroll down to the very bottom of the page - on the right hand side...you will see the word "Vault". Click that and it will take you there.

No. I am not subscribed to C&C in the faux account.

deeply saddened to learn that we may not have access to the vault or any deeper puzzles with this volume. And there is no guarantee for volume 5

Well, I just received a rather dramatic e-mail from the MPC regarding C&C. This is in response to a very lengthy e-mail that I sent that asked questions about all kinds of things. It's actually significantly more forthcoming than I was expecting: Hello Michael, I will attempt to answer your various queries, but have patience if I give you less than you crave, for I am unable to directly address issues with the deeper solving of puzzles, in fact I am monitored on pain of torture in our esteemed Curator's lavish dungeon. The Curio and Conundrums quarterly has clearly gone through a thorough redesign. We are aware that with removal of certain elements we will be disappointing our long time subscribers, the choice has been made for the greater good of the company. That being said, please don't give up on us yet! There are changes still to come and they may include some concessions on both sides. Certainly regarding the deeper puzzles and perhaps the connectivity of the chapters. While the chapters of Volume Four are not directly connected, they are thematically guided... and it does not mean that Volume Five won't return to form, we simply don't know yet. The Vault has been hermetically sealed for the remainder of Volume Four... I am, again, not permitted to say more. I have forwarded your comments to the Curio elves. You are not alone in bringing these concerns, and there is strength in numbers! Alice a Concierge with Member Services at The Mysterious Package Company One of the perplexing characteristics of MPC communication is the blurring of "in-game" and "real-world" lines. While, in reality, the Mysterious Package Company is a business based in Canada that manufactures and sells tactile stories, their "in-game" history is that they evolved from the Order of Sand and Smoke and use the distribution of experiences as a way to safeguard actual cursed artifacts. When the Concierge says "...I am monitored on pain of torture in our esteemed Curator's lavish dungeon..." we know, or rather assume, that to be "in-game". We don't believe the Curator actually tortures a Concierge who reveals too much. But when the same Concierge says in regard to the changes to Curios & Conundrums, "...the choice has been made for the greater good of the company..." are we to take that as "in-game" or "real-world"? If it's "in-game" then safeguarding the Vault is important at this time, just as putting it out in the open in Volume 3 was an "in-game" choice. Those of us who were around before Volume 3 know that The Volume 1 Vault did not appear until after the last issue of Volume 1, and the Volume 2 Vault did not appear until after the last issue of Volume 2. The fact that "(t)he Vault has been hermetically sealed for the remainder of Volume Four..." is still neither confirmation nor denial in regard to an ultimate Volume 4 Vault. If it's "real-world" then we can only imaging the many emails they must have received about how the puzzles were too hard, or from people who missed the start of the Volume lamenting the need to buy back issues. I can understand how many complaints of that nature may become tiresome. But we can be similarly tiresome. Either way, though, there is always hope for the future. Stay engaged. Provide feedback. Perhaps I'm growing uncharacteristically optimistic in my old age, but could it be that what we're holding is best described as phoenix ash?

Todd, I have to admit your description of "phoenix ash" was inspired and hopefully what rises will be as wondrous!

Getting back to the topic of the thread, I don't mind the codex. It's there, but no one is forcing me to look at it. What I would *really* like is if they posted pdf versions of the puzzles so I don't have to unfold, refold, ad nauseum to make working copies for myself. It would be nicer to be able to just print them out.
