Has anyone had problems with The Vault yet? The "cannot make a single mistake" bit? Well, I can't get it to enter a single letter. It's starting at the far right, I've entered words backwards. I've entered the last puzzle first and the first puzzle first. I've even sent the Curator a note. My Vault is a true Vault, and oddly, I have not seen the codex. Maybe I'm not looking, I've also been hindquarters in John Augur. (Great experience!) I'm so confused after getting Gods and Monsters I am losing interest in solving the puzzles if there's no point in the Vault. The codex is only for V3 and V4. There is no vault for V4. That we're aware of, anyway.

For those of us who are puzzle-challenged (i.e., can't puzzle for crap), The Spoiler Guide to volume 1 on the wiki has been great in helping me to understand what's going on. The codex is also helpful.
I'm hoping that a Spoilers Guide for vol. 2 will appear on the Wiki at some point.

It sounds like the Volume 1 Vault, in which case the answers are all in the five issues that comprise Volume 1. Do you have any of the back issues or catch-up kits? Gods and Monsters I've contacted the Curator, to no avail. I've solved all the previous issues. Now this is my only vault option but it clearly states: You cannot make a single mistake and I don't know if that mistake was clicking on the vault in the first place😂🙄

Underneath that message should be a series of dotted lines where you can type in your first Vault answer. If you type in the wrong word it will boot you out of the Vault and lock you out for 24 hours. If you enter the correct word the lines will go blank again and you enter your next word..until all 12 have been entered [if my memory is correct]. Feel free to PM me if that is not your problem and I will try to help you figure it out.

There is no Vault up for Volume Four yet (or if there is, you are the only one who has found it). Indeed, the Vault usually doesn't show up until more chapters have been sent out (and you certainly can't get in until you have all the issues for that Volume). I do remember the message "You cannot make a single mistake" showing up when I went to open the Volume One Vault, which is why I think you may actually be working on that one. Have you opened any of the Vaults from Volumes 1-3? To clear up the confusion, could you maybe provide a link to the Vault you are working on, or at least walk us through how you got there?

Received this yesterday, so fingers crossed... Dear Kimberly, We do take the time to carefully read and forward feedback to the correct iteration of the Powers that Be, here at MPC. And, as you know, we have heard from many on this subject. As a growing company we are constantly revising and re-imagining aspects of what we do. All I am permitted to say in this matter is that the Vault has been sealed for the time being... but nothing is forever. I hope that Volume 4.2 is more to your liking. As always, should you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me forthwith. Alice a Concierge with Member Services at The Mysterious Package Company www.mysteriouspackage.com Thank you for posting this! Very intriguing, both in that they seem to be calling this year a "Volume" as opposed to just stand-alone and unrelated issues and that The Vault will either not be happening this year or will come back much later. Even though this doesn't give many specific answers, I'm a bit more encouraged now than before, though I also wonder if the "growing" company statement means that, as we've suspected here, that they're trying to grow their subscriber and readership base and are therefore catering to less "hardcore" puzzlers.

Is it just me, or did the Vault disappear entirely? I'm not done with the puzzles from Volume 3, but I was close, so I'm having a bit of a tantrum over it right now.
Definitely not a fan of this year's approach at all. 😒

I understand that in earlier Volumes the Vault did not actually appear until much later on...so it could be that they are going back to the Volume I-II approach of not showing the Vault until after the final issue of Volume 4 is issued. But who knows.

It's strange for them to have removed the Vault entirely when some subscribers are still working through back issues and Volume 3. I'm willing to bet it'll come back online at some point if they're still selling the previous volumes. I'm hoping they come back with something great, but I'm becoming less enthused with each change.

As wortelboer mentioned, the Vaults for Volumes 1 and 2 did not become available until well after the final issue of the Volume had shipped. This gave the subscribers a level playing field in cracking the Vault, untainted by mail delivery times. If there is going to be a Volume 4 Vault, it would be nice if they resumed that approach.

Well, I just received a rather dramatic e-mail from the MPC regarding C&C. This is in response to a very lengthy e-mail that I sent that asked questions about all kinds of things. It's actually significantly more forthcoming than I was expecting:
Hello Michael,
I will attempt to answer your various queries, but have patience if I give you less than you crave, for I am unable to directly address issues with the deeper solving of puzzles, in fact I am monitored on pain of torture in our esteemed Curator's lavish dungeon.
The Curio and Conundrums quarterly has clearly gone through a thorough redesign. We are aware that with removal of certain elements we will be disappointing our long time subscribers, the choice has been made for the greater good of the company.
That being said, please don't give up on us yet! There are changes still to come and they may include some concessions on both sides. Certainly regarding the deeper puzzles and perhaps the connectivity of the chapters. While the chapters of Volume Four are not directly connected, they are thematically guided... and it does not mean that Volume Five won't return to form, we simply don't know yet.
The Vault has been hermetically sealed for the remainder of Volume Four... I am, again, not permitted to say more.
I have forwarded your comments to the Curio elves. You are not alone in bringing these concerns, and there is strength in numbers!
