I suspect 51 down has an error The clue is a 6 letter (two words) but the answer is actually 5... A couple of the across words have the opposite issue. Though I'm currently inclined to wonder if that may have been due to a desire to prevent a line turn on the clue. |

I have solved 2 Down by getting all the acrosses, but my completionist brain needs to know the 5th letter and how it relates to the clue "Pioneering Victorian Cricketer". I've done some googling on cricket players from the 1800s but havent found a match yet. Am I on the right track looking for a person's name?

We found it by reading through the history of the sport in Wikipedia (straight up Googling resulted in too much about "Victorian" as in "from Victoria," rather than the historical era). |
