I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of how many C&C subscribers there have been. I wondering what percentage of subscribers have actually make it through and opened the Vault for the Volumes so far.
Having succeeded at opening all the Vaults [and really wanting something I can purchase to display that achievement!!!!]...I am curious if anyone knows or discussed this with anyone at MPC at some point.

I agree, it would be nice to receive or be able to purchase something as a memento for opening the vaults. If you look through the posts you should be able to see what Todd received for being the first to open vault 2.

Apparently the Vaults for Volume II and Volume III include a counter; two weeks ago the Volume II Vault stood at 39, and Volume III at 62. I have not opened either - I got my information from k80 and clemtownkernel via their podcast; they mention the counters at roughly 00:26:30.

I have seen the picture of what Todd received for being first in the vault. It is spectacular. Currently the counter stands at 40 and 66. I think that is a very small percentage of those who have purchased subscriptions.

I'm fascinated by the disparity actually - the number of casual likes the MPC gets on Facebook is vastly larger than the number of people with memberships to this forum, and the number of people in the vault is vastly smaller than that!
I saw Todd's prize also and it is awesome!
Honestly what I want most out of the MPC is something like that - something that can't be bought, only earned.

I am under the impression that their advertising has only recently begun leaning towards Curios & Conundrums, and even now does not truly reflect the depth and difficulty of the puzzles therein. As it is, it seems that most people who join up with the Company are mostly interested in alternative ways of storytelling as in Alternate Reality Games and the like. This is certainly the case as far as I am concerned - I read a tweet by the voice actor from The Century Beast, and had no idea that I was going to receive two years worth of mind-bending riddles when I ordered the Curios & Conundrums catch-up package. So I assume that most people who are interested in the services The Mysterious Package Company are unaware of, uninterested in or ill-suited for the challenges of the vaults. As for this forum, I suppose we are just so well-hidden that most new members have difficulty finding us since The Sitting Room was closed. I do not tend to go around their social media presence and announce our whereabouts to all who will hear it, and I have not seen anyone else do it either. Which is just as well in my eyes, since there are too many accounts of the Experiences out there in the open to begin with.

Well MPC can't give away something to everyone that enters the vault I would like to see a special code/item offered for those that do. I don't mind paying for it. But it would only be available to those that cracked the vault.

As Beckett mentioned...the Experiences have been MPC's focus. I listened to the podcast by MPC a little while ago and they did say that the Experiences is what sells the most...and most people buy them - not for themselves - but for others. I don't think we will ever know the number of C&C subscribers...but it does seem to be gaining in popularity...maybe in a future podcast they will give us a clue as to the percentage that actually make it into the Vault...I'm guessing the percentage # would be in the single digits...but I am wildly guessing.

I would like to clarify that many of us worked together to break the Volume 2 Vault. I am the custodian of the prize simply by virtue of fate.
And it has been theorized that the low Vault numbers is part of the reason for the revamp for Volume 4: An effort to retain the non-puzzle inclined subscriber base with shiny objects.

Yes, I remember being shocked when I cracked the Volume 2 Vault (I believe I'm 34th) and saw how incredibly low the number was. I mean, I completely understand getting the newspapers and curios as a fun thing and not even bothering with the puzzles, but I would have expected the counter to have at least one more digit next to it. Also, I do have a number of very smart and savvy friends and family members who are also into puzzles, and they all feel that C&C is incredibly overwhelming. Perhaps we are all just a rare breed....

I agree, a rare breed that of puzzle solvers that have the tenacity to never give up until the puzzles are solve AND are are - at the same time - willing to share, help and support others trying to do the same thing. The willingness to share what they have figured out and solved and guide others is so wonderful. I never would have made it through without the help of the people on this board....which is why I try to help those that are coming along behind me as much as possible.

Didn't thebeard also receive something special for being first to crack one of the vaults? I believe he posted a photo of it somewhere here.

The Volume 1 Vault Cracker received the same item as the Volume 2 Vault Cracker.

I can confirm that as of today, there has not been any physical reward for being top listed for Vault 3. Though with the madness that ensued from some odd coding, I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped any hopes of further honoring a Vault 3 entrant. I have considered getting a shirt or hat made that said "I'm Number Zero!"
