So, in the interest of full disclosure, I ended up using an online nonogram solver to solve the various nonogram puzzles in Volume 3, as despite being good at Ken Ken and Sudoku, nonograms have always been tough for me. I just don't have much experience with them, and most of the online puzzles I've found tend to be too difficult or complicated for novices (or at least for me).
Well, I finally found something that has helped me get better at nonograms and really enjoy the process. It's a computer game called Pictopix. It's available on Steam for Windows and Mac and is only 7 dollars for over 150 puzzles, a great tutorial, a puzzle creator, and a really excellent interface. I highly recommend it:
