opened package #6 today and, CRAP!.... i don't have anything in my house that plays a cassette! i hope it will be transcribed at some point. Or can someone who listened post a spoiler of anything they think important? THANKS! I have a number of electronics stores nearby that will likely have something that can play cassettes for very cheap. There's also a small chance that my parents have an old cassette tape player lying around. If I can find one, I'll (badly) record the audio and PM it to you.

Until then... It's a police interview with a guy called Geoff Merrill, talking about the fact he killed someone call Gina and admits to it. He admits selling pot to Julie but nothing more serious, is surprised to hear of her death and denies any involvement in it. What he does mention is the local church are full are hard drug users. Speculation: some sort of cult here? Julie found out something about them, or found out from that other guy who disappeared, and they got rid of her (consider the acetate overlaid on the map showing the location of the dead body) Envelope #7 leads us closer and #8 is a touching change of pace.... and there is a subtle link between something in #7 and something in #8...

Regarding the transcript, you get a link to a digital version in envelope 9. Also in 9 is a genius puzzle, really understated but it gives you the username and password for the enki website What to put in there, though. Isn't immediately obvious!

Well, perhaps not surprisingly, I went to three different stores today and none of them had something that could play cassette tapes. Good to know you get a digital version later on, but I'll still probably order a cheap tape player off of Amazon.

It is a real thrill going old school, I have to say. For some reason we still have our old combo cd/cassette player in the lounge so I chucked the tape on, job done. Digital is all well and good, but there's no substitute for the tactile experience of 'old' media.
As for my comment above, not being sure what to put in there....well, if you also get to this point and wonder the same let me just say reread everything.....right back to the beginning....and I mean the very beginning.

Well, this has been an amazing journey but unfortunately no luck. I caved and bought a tape player on Amazon, and it will arrive on Monday. I'll post the recording then. Now the question is whether or not to be impatient and open package #7 before playing the tape from #6...

No, don't!
For this one, keep it in order.
Personally I can't wait to see what you make of what happens when you get to #9....

All right, at long long long last, I got my brand new shiny cassette tape player (and recorder too!) and got a chance to listen and record. The audio is pretty terrible as it was recorded off of my phone, but it's listenable. Here's a link to it: drive.google.com/file/d/0B8bI9VAvzNA5eDhCODFLU29RUEk/view?usp=sharingOut of curiosity, has anyone listened to the rest of the tape? There's a LOT of extra space on there, not to mention possibly a second side. I haven't done so yet, but if anyone thinks it's worth it, I'll relive my glory days of listening all the way to the end of tapes to see if there was a hidden track.

Just opened #'s 7 and 8. This really has been incredible so far in terms of the diversity of items. #8 is quite moving and sad. Also, on the congregation's website, did you notice the hidden text at the very bottom (can be found both by highlighting the bottom and looking at the page source)?

I don't think I got a reply, you're really looking at getting into the Members area here...

I got a reply saying that they discontinued the e-newsletter. While of course I'm going to try getting into the Members Area once I get #9, I'm trying one other tactic with this newsletter and will update when and if it works.

Out of curiosity, is #9 a largish package of some sort? I just got #10 in the mail today but have not received #9 yet. I'm mainly asking so that I can try to be home when it gets delivered if it's a big package.
