I supported this spellbook on kickstarter a little while ago, and while I have not yet received mine, people seem to be quite taken with their rewards. While I was originally planning to present some photographs once I received my copy, I wanted to let you know that there seem to be some surplus volumes of the spellbook itself and each of the three occult books that were available as add-on rewards during the kickstarter, so if any of you are interested, I strongly suggest to see about that soon. I believe that the spellbook would go especially well with any collection of Artifacts from The Mysterious Package Company. The spellbook contains some original material as well as prayers and incantations taken from stories by H. P. Lovecraft, most notably a page from the Necronomicon as described in The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. While the full volumes are not cheap, there are also single folded sheets from the book - as a left page/right page combination - that would look terrific on display. I will update this thread with my personal review once my copy has arrived, until then I will leave you with this link to the post kickstarter oder form.

That looks truly awesome. I really want one of these but cannot justify the cost at all. Then again, I expect the next MPC membership kit to be at that kind of price point, and I'll definitely be buying one of those if the content is similar to what has been described previously. What to do?!

Save the money for the membership kit, get a single page out of the spellbook now and keep your eyes peeled for when he launches another kickstarter campaign. He did state in an update that would very much like to make more books... a facsimile of the Voynich Manuscript has been suggested. And who knows, maybe the spellbook will then even be available as an add-on - although he has stated that the deerhide bound version will likely remain exclusive to this campaign. I ordered the goat hide version. While I wanted it to be bound in real leather, I opted for the more affordable version.

Thanks for the info! I missed that Kickstarter and immediately ordered one of the goat hide spell books this morning. What can I say? I am a sucker for things like that. Now should I get any of the other three? My wallet is already bleeding after the Kingdom Death Kickstarter and I am waiting for the Gloomhaven reprint. Sigh. First world problems😜

If you need further tempting, here are photographs of the add-on books. They are somewhat less luxurious than the main book, though.

I just got the two books I ordered via backerkit and they are exquisite. Absolutely marvelous. If someone is hesitating about getting one or more of Mr. Metze's works: Don't. Get one as long as they last. The touch, smell and look of the books are astonishing. I will proudly display these together with my MPC artifacts.

Couple of questions if I may - did you also receive the Pinkerton Government Services Official File with the backerkit order, or was that perhaps just restricted to KS backers? And what size is the book - you got the goat hide one, I think, 100 ish pages, but physical dimensions of the book itself? Thanks!

I didn't get the Pinkerton files. Just the two books I ordered through backerkit. The spell book is in goat hide, 11 1/2 inches long, a little over 8 inches deep and 1 1/2 inches thick. Polygraphia is 10 1/2 inches long, 7 1/2 inches deep and 2 1/2 inches thick.

Luckily, the Pinkerton File has been provided both physically and digitally to backers, and Steve has kindly allowed me to share it with those of you who get lost in the latin parts of the book.
Let me know if you are interested - I will send you a dropbox link tomorrow.

Sigh. Anyone know Dork Tower? Sometimes I am like Igor...

Well now.
You've given me yet another problem.
How to bind these together in an appropriate style file that can be tucked in by the displayed book.
First world problems, I know, but even so...

I had no idea that this Pinkerton File existed, I would very much appreciate a share too.
