Throwing this puzzle book out there as something people on this board may be interested in. The book came out about 2ish years ago now, but as no one ever solved the final puzzle, they came out with a companion book a few weeks ago to act as a hint book to help in solving the final meta. The puzzle book is a story book that takes place in the late 1800's where you are two young kids trapped in a maze. The premise of the story involves making your way through the maze and solving puzzles on the way and each puzzle you solve awards you a card A-Q from a suit of cards, and those twelve cards feed into the King puzzle for that suit, and there are four suit sections. All which leads to the final puzzle which is what no one has solved (the hint book that came out is a new suit of cards called the jokers that also has 12+1 puzzles in it and is supposed to help solve the final main puzzle if anyone is ever able to solve all the hint puzzles). There are a wide variety of puzzles, all of which are self contained within the realm of the book (though if you suck at crosswords like me, you may need some internet help to complete those). If you are interested, there are some example puzzles from the book on their site and on the puzzazz website where the ebook is sold. You can get the main book and hint book at their website (They include a free pdf of the book when you buy also) lonesharkgames.com/maze/

This looks great, but unless I'm missing it, it's $50 for the physical book. I had college textbooks that were more affordable!

After reading about this online, I've purchased the book. I think it will help keep me busy between C&C issues. I also liked the fact that they will send a free PDF copy...so I can print out the puzzles as I need them rather than photocopying pages out of the book.
If anyone else is going to purchase and wants to form a group to work on this, just let me know.

So cool. I actually broke down and purchased it today...the format reminds me of C&C....you have to complete the puzzles in a certain order...which reveals a word or words...which then provide you a message when all the puzzles are solved to move on. The story line seems interesting and it is set in Victorian England. Considering no one has cracked the final maze of puzzles sounds like a challenge.
Also once you purchase the book they give you a free PDF copy of it so you can easily print out the puzzles to work on.
I know what I'm doing this weekend!!

store.penny-arcade.com/products/the-maze-of-games-by-mike-selinkerOn the page showing the book...on the right....is this: With your purchase, you also get a free PDF of the book. Just email info@lonesharkgames.com with your proof of purchase and we will email you a link! I forwarded my order confirmation email to the email address and a couple of hours later they emailed me the PDFs. Any corrections or changes in the future they will also automatically send you an updated PDF. I still won't received the hard copy of the book for a few more days, but I've already started the book from the PDF.

I love this book and contributed to the Kickstarter, but I'll warn all of you that it's VERY hard. Even the first puzzle gave me trouble. One thing I will add is that the Kickstarter campaign for this was extremely memorable, with a ton of C&C-like puzzles built into the campaign and updates.

I agree the puzzles are hard. But this is the closest I have come to the C&C experience. I purchased the second book too (which is more puzzles that form hints on how to solve the so-far-unsolved puzzles in the 5th maze). I understand the puzzles become harder as you progress through each maze. For those who don't know the book...it is a story of two Victorian era children who get magically transported to a maze by the Gatekeeper. In each puzzle room they meet interesting characters. They have to go through a series of 5 mazes - each containing 12 puzzles - to escape. I just finished maze #1 last night and admit there were more than a few puzzles I had to go to the Wikia page to look at some of the hints in order to solve. Starting maze #2 tonight. Looking forward to the puzzles and the story.

Oh wow, there's a wikia now with some hints? That might inspire me to go back. I got so frustrated by a later puzzle that I took a long break and never got back into it (it's been so long that I don't even remember which puzzle stumped me). I don't think negatively about the book; very worth it for a great challenge, and it's beautifully made.

I love this book and contributed to the Kickstarter, but I'll warn all of you that it's VERY hard. Even the first puzzle gave me trouble. Agreed. I thought, oh, this will be a fun thing to do over winter break while I'm waiting for the next C&C, but over a year later, I'm still only about ~75% through. I severely underestimated the difficulty level (and it's a heavy book to carry around and life got busy, so I ended up putting it down for a bit that stretched into quite a while :/ ). I didn't remember a PDF being an option when I purchased, but I sent an email and they swiftly sent a link, so I may have the first suit printed out and I can start again. (Thanks wortelboer for pointing out the PDF!) I'd really like to complete it, or at least get to the part where everyone else is also stuck.

I got this book for Christmas and have really been enjoying it so far. Does anyone know if the entire book has been solved yet?

I just ordered mine today. Thanks for the info! I've been having C&C withdrawls this volume. I'm glad to find other books/boxes out there that give the same feel.
