So we're stuck on this. Hopefully someone can help. Here's what we know so far: The German was purposely mis-translated and the ritual actually captures your soul instead of sealing it.
The daughters of naamah are a facade and they actually worship the demon Naamah convincing you to perform the ritual that will capture your soul.
I’m not sure if the symbols on the journal entry are in another language or are a cypher. I was also thinking that the ritual directions maybe have something to do with breaking the code. We know that he was an expert translator of Aramaic and Felician but none of the symbols translate into anything meaningful. While it's been long enough that I can't speak to the lore questions that you have, in terms of puzzles, as far as I remember, there isn't a traditional puzzle like a cipher in Demon Jar. Have you opened the jar and/or examined the box closely? It sounds like you have, but it's been long enough that I don't remember exactly when/how you discover specific items.

We found the key if that's what you're asking. We have not broken the seal, but we plan to tonight since we know there in no demon in the jar.
Mostly just want to know what the words written in symbols on the margins of the journal say.

Mostly just want to know what the words written in symbols on the margins of the journal say. Ah ok. As far as I know, those are just "for show" so to speak and not really anything substantial, but maybe there is actually a code of some kind. Hopefully someone else sees this post and can elaborate. There's also a chance that they've changed/enhanced the experience since it was first released; the product page now notes that there are puzzles that are part of the narrative, and I don't remember there being puzzles per se in Demon Jar beyond the interactivity of the jar and the box. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I think the puzzle they mention could be the trick with the translation being done wrong and actually being a setup. So some people might actually do the ritual and trap their own souls. but we were thinking maybe there was some meaning in those words, like with the other MPC products.

Oh, but there is something terrible indeed in the jar! Open at your peril.

Oh, but there is something terrible indeed in the jar! Open at your peril. So we opened the jar last night and it contained what seems to be the real ritual circle instead of the one provided that had turned out to actually be the symbol of the demon and a black powder that maybe is supposed to be used in the actual ritual Still stuck on the script from the journal but we're pretty sure now that it's cursive Aramaic which is incredibly difficult to read Any help on deciphering the script would be incredibly useful.

I hate to suggest this, but based on the experience that I would guess the majority of us had with The Demon Jar i.e. it not having translation/decoding puzzles, I would recommend contacting the MPC directly and asking them if the script is indeed meant to be decoded or if it’s more of an atmospheric thing. This didn’t use to be the case, but their FAQ now mentions that the Concierges have knowledge of puzzles in their products and can provide hints or guidance when contacted. If you do this, please share their response, as it may inspire people to revisit this experience!
