Going to spoiler tag it just in case... I'm debating if it's even still necessary. Based on the new documents I'm not sure the initial trapping is still valid. Did he let the demon out? Is this skin? What is the new symbols? More questions than answers - I love it! Good point! The sinister page that says "everything will burn" seems like an indicator that the author of that page is now possessed by said demon? Maybe?

The first group of symbols on the journal entries are Hebrew by the looks of it

I haven't had a chance to play with mine yet. Can anyone who has opened theirs answer Beckett's question on page 1? No, there is nothing hazardous inside. Should be no problem with customs.

I just noticed on the original letter the daughters send us, that it only says "do not open the jar on walpurgisnacht". Implying we can open the jar otherwise

April 30th--which if I'm not mistaken is a date on one of those diary entries.....or the obituary date?

Professor (and there are fairly explicit spoilers here, so beware if you want to go in blind), I highly recommend opening the seal. There are definitely a couple of things inside, and the experience of what falls out first is one of my favorite moments with the MPC (and I promise it's not a snake or a glitter bomb). I will warn you that sunrhyse reported not finding anything inside past the first thing that falls out, so let's hope that was a one time anomaly. I'd also be happy to PM you an image of one of the things that falls out in case you still decide to not open the jar, though I really think it completes the experience when you open the jar. And now I'm intrigued. By two things, do you mean the rolled up item and the powder? I wouldn't have counted the latter as a thing, but I suppose it was another thing that was inside.

I know, it sort of defies description, but it is something inside the jar for sure, is part of the story, and was memorable.

Memorable it most certainly was. I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to real go through everything again, because I'm sure I missed some interesting details.

Help! I just ran outside and retrieved the mailing box seconds before the recycling guys took my bin. But I cannot find any false bottom! There isn't one, unless in my jetlagged haze I managed to find everything and just don't remember. What was in it?

There isn't one, unless in my jetlagged haze I managed to find everything and just don't remember. What was in it? The false bottom is in the crate itself, not the mailing box. If you don't have that, then (MAJOR SPOILER) The false bottom contains the key to unlock the cage.

Phwew! My initial post (in case it causes others confusion, not saying you particularly) was about the newspaper clipping and papers. Mine were buried under all of the peanuts so they could have been overlooked or tossed. So long as you aren't the kind of person that tosses the crate (*glares at partner for Weeping Book*) you should be fine.
