Centaur, I checked out the ephemera, and I think you're right that there's a mistake. I did the math quickly, but it seems like it puts the archaeologist's death at 2014, not 2015 like his journal indicates. I've noticed date mistakes in one or two other experiences, in particular Risen, which I think messed up with the final letter in terms of when it was dated (though I could be misremembering, it just still stands as a confusing error in my mind). Oh well, doesn't take away from the incredible artifact experience!

Agreed, I'm just a stickler for details - especially now that I've tried my hand at making my own stories Date aside, that whole chunk of info was quite the plot twist. We were excited to get to town on a ritual but then we stopped in our tracks haha

Check out my posts from earlier today about the jar. The spoilers should reveal, without going into too specific detail, whether or not you should open your jar. The spoilers are mostly there to hide anything revealing about the mailing for those who haven't gotten theirs yet. EDIT: Sunrhyse, I sent you a PM with more explicit recommendations.

I'll admit, I opened the jar. I was kinda hoping it was a glitter bomb to punish all the defiant ones that opened the damn thing.

That is exactly what my husband suggested as I was getting ready to open mine. Also, I must say, as my third experience after the Century Beast and the Ceiba Tree, this is the one I'm most pleased with. It'll be interesting to see how Filigree compares once it's out, and I really want to get the Lost Treasure, too.

I just laughed out loud on a relatively hectic day at work. Thanks for that!

Also, sorry world. I think so long as we don't all converge in one location we should be fine.

Here's an interesting question for all you Demon Jar peeps:
Are you going to attempt the actual binding ritual?

Going to spoiler tag it just in case... I'm debating if it's even still necessary. Based on the new documents I'm not sure the initial trapping is still valid. Did he let the demon out? Is this skin? What is the new symbols? More questions than answers - I love it!

If I had the space for it (and a cat that I trusted not to cause mischief), I would be sorely tempted to display the jar as if set up for the ritual. Regarding the story elements: The note with the jar is a bit ambiguous about whether it's best to keep the whole thing locked or just don't break the seal while it's unlocked. In general, I would assume we can trust the letter from the Daughters, which does say we need to perform the ritual. Moreover, the ritual and the letter with the jar were written by the same hand. It begs the question that if the author of the note with the jar did not want us to perform the ritual, why did they write the ritual in the first place? I suppose you could argue that the note with the jar came after they discovered it was a bad idea, but again, I would default to trusting the Daughters.
I believe the individual who wrote the journal entries is possessed by a piece of the demon, but it is certainly not at full power, since many of the jars are implied to be still intact. We are charged with keeping them safe to keep it from regaining its strength.
I'm currently more interested in the symbols in the margins of the journal entry that came with the jar, as well as the symbol on the item inside the jar.

Mine arrived today. Very nice looking. I love the typical journal entry handwriting changing while getting possessed. Thanks all for mentioning the false bottom. I likely wouldn't have found the envelope for some time, and gotten annoyed that either the Curator or the Daughters had forgotten to include it. I went back to see if there was one for John Auger, looking for our missing epilogue, but no such luck. I'm still debating on whether to break the seal or not and see what's inside. I don't hear anything rattling around in there. I certainly don't mind hearing recommendations as to the pros of opening it. Bear in mind that since you all did, you're more likely to be possessed and just trying to get me to open mine now.

Professor (and there are fairly explicit spoilers here, so beware if you want to go in blind), I highly recommend opening the seal. There are definitely a couple of things inside, and the experience of what falls out first is one of my favorite moments with the MPC (and I promise it's not a snake or a glitter bomb). I will warn you that sunrhyse reported not finding anything inside past the first thing that falls out, so let's hope that was a one time anomaly. I'd also be happy to PM you an image of one of the things that falls out in case you still decide to not open the jar, though I really think it completes the experience when you open the jar.

I haven't had a chance to play with mine yet. Can anyone who has opened theirs answer Beckett's question on page 1?
