]I think it also shines some light on a recent MPC decision. what decision would that be?

Tempus Fugit has no definitive conclusion, either. You're just left hanging,

I'm left feeling kind of let down too. Does anyone know if in the reveals they offer more information, or are we just left with this??

So they are being chased by... some sort of cursed ship with a bloody fish on it? I don't really understand why... For those wondering, the artifact is a large tooth with a scrimshaw map on it.

The scrimshaw tooth looks like it might be made by the same people that do the dragon tooth. I suspect they felt that the artifact for this experience might bear too close a similarity to that curiosity, especially when they both came out at the same time.

Tempus Fugit has no definitive conclusion, either. You're just left hanging, True, but in that one, there's not really any investigation to be done either. For this one there was actually a lot of interaction, but there's no real payoff for it. In doesn't even confirm whether our plotted location turned out to be the correct one, except maybe in the vaguest of manners.

The sea snake Hydrophis semperi, shown on the scrimshaw, is found only in Lake Taal. There's also the lava reference in the email. I think there must be something more, since I haven't seen any pirates win / authorities win type of differences yet. Unless your letter from Shui was different? Mine said they were going to get a pardon for Augur with their shares of the treasure, if possible.

I'm pondering several things...like maybe we are supposed to use the scrimshaw to locate where on the island the treasure is? After all the letter to John Augur tells him to follow the maps, use the amulet and the scrimshaw to find the treasure...one side of the scrimshaw points to the island...the other side points to the where on the island the treasure is buried. We have all put the amulet and maps to good use...
The size and position of the snake...the fact one portion of an earlier clue "6th of a fathom" has not been explained... Maybe I'm looking for things that are not there...but I'm not ready to say that yet.

I'll post overall thoughts below in spoilers on the extreme off chance that someone's reading this with the intent to see if the third mailing is worth it and doesn't want the artifact spoiled. Non-spoiler conclusion: fairly cool experience with an amazing first mailing and artifact, but a somewhat disappointing ending I'm of two minds about the artifact and now overall experience. I actually think the tooth is a neat item, and looks very cool on a shelf; out of context, it's great. However, as the narrative conclusion to this experience, it's disappointing, but mainly because the other two mailings were so robust, especially the first one. I'm not too bothered by the story not fully resolving itself (at least not as much as I was by Tempus Fugit's story left on a cliffhanger) since this experience almost felt more like a historical find than a true treasure hunt. To be fair though, I didn't really get involved in trying to solve the pirate code; I think if I had, this would have been much more of a letdown. I also had a feeling that something like this might happen considering that the price point for the experience wasn't noticeably different than other experiences and the first mailing was truly incredible in both quality and quantity. Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit but, based on the ending, I'm not sure that I would purchase it for someone else.

I honestly really love the artifact as an item, it's just a bummer that it was the artifact for this experience

But I'm not familiar enough with MPC to know if they are comfortable leaving details unused like that. There's also the problem that the lake and island are very different from how they were in Augur's time, due to volcanic and seismic activity. I'm not sure it's possible to pinpoint a real world location, but neither am I ready to stop puzzling with the artifact yet.

The little details and such really only matter when it comes to C&C. If the experience ends vaguely then that's it. Don't let me discourage you from looking more into it, but I wouldn't be disappointed if you don't find anything else. I wish it would become standard for each experience to include a epilogue now. Century beast did a great job with the loose ends, I would even say the postcard in weeping book acts as an epilogue. Along with the ceiba tree letter that's 3 different ways of ending a story. So they could easily be creative and add it to most experiences.

I haven't seen the artifact, but know what it is from reading the above. My hypothesis regarding the cancellation of The Vulcan Tooth: how many teeth do you need arriving in your mailbox at the same time?

I'm feeling a bit disappointed too. My inner pirate wanted to see some real treasure. Silver pieces, jewels, etc. I guess that was just not realistic.
