My second mailing is waiting on my desk. Will give it a go tonight. Already enjoyed the first one. This is all nicely done, with enough immersion. It all look real to me. That is very important to me. I couldn't stand the fake look of the Mystery Experience Company. And there is a lot to do, even in the limited confines of the first mailing.

Email about a Premium box with an interesting sale model... And they sold out of their pre-sales within 12 hours. I've barely cracked boxes 1 or 2 yet, went back to working on C&C instead. HuntaKiller just seems so time consuming.

I will post some pictures and a write up when I get mine. Hopefully it won't be a let down...

Well, I got "approved" for membership almost instantly despite a claim that there were about 1600 people ahead of me in line. I'm a little on the fence. When you solve clues, is there a central online location to record them or any clear sign of progression for each box? That's one of the things that appeals to me about the MPC, that there's a way to measure your progress or at least know that you're solving puzzles correctly.

That's one of the things that appeals to me about the MPC, that there's a way to measure your progress or at least know that you're solving puzzles correctly. They have forums here: huntakiller.freeforums.net/I only have boxes 1 and 2 so far and have barely looked at them. Box 2 had a ton more stuff in it, but everything needs googling to get into the mystery and I just haven't had the patience for it yet. I will give them credit, it's VERY realistic. I don't even know if the story ever ends....I originally read that it continues through 4 boxes, but then people that just got box 5 said the story was still going in the 5th box. Their facebook page for the discussion group ( www.facebook.com/groups/1769577673310826/ ) has also gone through weirdness...it used to be people discussing boxes. Now it's a free for all of people that haven't signed up for the subscription that are just discussing serial killers in general and they've created new sub-group pages based on which month you start your first box. If you join the main group facebook page they have links to the sub-discussion group pages in the pinned post.

Ok interesting, thank you! I actually had a similar experience to The Haunted Dollhouse with not touching the boxes after a while (I still have the last three unopened), though that was because I got frustrated by how precise the construction had to be and how generally bad I am with arts and crafts work, not because I thought the experience was bad or too difficult. In that case, my patience wore thin quickly, but again, that was because of me, not because of the experience being poor. Research and puzzle solving is more my speed, so I think I'm going to bite the bullet and try this out. It's nice that it's month to month; if I'm out thirty dollars, not too much of an investment.

If you use my link at the start of this thread it's supposed to get you 10% off your first box or some sort of discount.

Ack, my bad. Not that a three dollar discount is a big deal, but I think I could have gotten you a free month! Oh well. Thank you though for the recommendation regarding the forums. Just from the threads that have been started under the first episode, this looks very intriguing and makes me excited about subscribing.

No biggie.
Let me know what you think about it. I get a very "I'm getting correspondence from Hannibal Lecter" feel about it, even though i haven't done much with it yet.

I'm waiting on my first box as well, but agree that the facebook group has gone in a strange direction. I joined the group for my month and will likely leave the main group. No offense to anyone here, but I get a "housewives obsessed with true crime shows" vibe. Some seem creepily excited by actual murders, which I tend to not enjoy so much.

I saw a post from someone who was excited to be corresponding with an actual serial killer in prison and was making plans to meet them.... Very creepy.

Interesting. I'm tempted, though it's very expensive, to try and get that premium box, as pre-orders will reopen tomorrow morning and I happen to typically be awake right when they'll start. Centaur, how's the general quality of the mystery and the materials in your opinion? Having a self-contained box appeals to me, but not for that price point if the quality isn't high.

A bit TOO mysterious so far... I'm still waiting on my first box haha. I didn't decide to do this until the end of February. I'm not sure it will be "my thing" but thought my partner might like it more than the MPC things I love. General consensus though is that the materials are very high quality and "real" feeling. I've also heard a direct comparison to the Mystery Experiences Company saying that this is WAY more realistic. If you're not familiar with that brand, the quality is similar to what you might expect in a household board game. If I get my shipment soon, I'd be happy to do a spoiler-protected photo or review for you.

OK great, thanks. I think I'm going to go for the premium box (no guarantee I'll get it of course) and if I get it I'll update here when I receive it and try to solve it. I do tend to love murder mysteries, so hopefully this will be good!

You are 100% correct, but it looks like they're trying to get back on topic. This was on their facebook page last night: "Huge changes in the way this group is managed. Through observation and many [many many] requests, we're getting back to HAK-specific discussions." They're now approving posts (or not approving) by people so they can stay on topic. Thank God.
