I know there are already a million threads about different versions of The Century Beast, and I'm a bit hesitant to create another one. It seems however that The Century Beast has been reworked to a certain extent and has significantly come down in price since its original offering. I purchased it as part of the Dread Holidays this year so it seems I'm getting the most recent and reworked version of it and at its lowest price point ever. Through contacting the MPC for clarification about the first mailing (you'll see why I did so in the next post), I've already found out about differences between the original version and the version I'm getting. For long-time MPC fans who may be curious to see the evolution of The Century Beast, and for those who may be interested to see if they feel this is worth the price point, I'm going to include the contents of each mailing in spoiler posts as they arrive. I will say that from the first two mailings so far, I've enjoyed it quite a bit, especially the first mailings contents.

First MailingThe reason I contacted the MPC about this mailing was two-fold. One was that I actually received duplicate copies of one item and thought that they had somehow replaced a different document that I was supposed to get with a duplicate of another. It turned out this wasn't the case and so I have a bonus copy of one of the documents. The other was that when I went to the Experiences page and clicked on the Spoiler Warning, it appeared that I was missing an item, but it turned out that item was removed from the experience and the photo on the site has not been updated! You can check out all the details in the spoilers below: Contents of the first mailing: - A note ostensibly from the sender of the envelopes saying that an included comic and article are important and pieces of a puzzle
- A comic in Norwegian (this was the item that I received duplicates of)
- An article about Norwegian rock art depicting an Ur-God (Lovecraft much?)
- A diary entry presumably from one of the discoverers of the rock art
- A newspaper article about the fate of the discoverers
The item that was removed from the experience that appears in the spoiler warning is the receipt from Tesoros De Playaca . When checking with the MPC about this, I got an interesting response: The photos on our site date back to when we were first sending out the Century Beast, as a Kickstarter campaign. We tweaked the mailings soon after and so the receipt you see in the photo has in fact been scrubbed from the story! (Apparently it did not add much to the tale, and in fact confused things, so it had to go! My request to have the photos updated has yet to bear fruit.)

Second MailingThis has less content than the first mailing, but does include an artifact. Contents of the second mailing: - Another note from the sender about an old article and an amulet
- The article from the note which is from an old magazine and is about a rediscovered Norwegian fairytale found in a book collection from an auction
- A page from what appears to be an auction catalog highlighting the collection where the Norwegian fairytale was found
- A creepy amulet with a mysterious symbol carved into it

This is very interesting! While I do not quite agree with the omission of the receipt from the diary mailing, which I found to be one of the more important parts of the full picture, I can only applaud their decision to tinker with The Century Beast to make it more accessible, since I found it to be a rather compelling experience.

Need help with this experience I'm not understanding what you need help with. Did you receive the experience? It's my understanding there's nothing to actually DO with it. It just is.

I mean how do you go about solving the Century Beast experience, I can't make heads or tails of it?. The experiences are simply tactile storytelling. Telling a story with objects. Generally there aren't any puzzles to solve. Just enjoy the story.

Indeed, back when some of us received the first iteration of The Century Beast, we did discuss the possibility of there being any puzzles included. None of us has ever found any. To my knowledge, the only Experiences to date which include anything to solve are The Weeping Book and (possibly) The Lost Treasure of John Augur.

The Weeping Book definitely has something to solve. None of the others do, though. You just receive the objects, read, feel, and enjoy them, and wait for the next mailing. The Century Beast is something you read, and learn more about with each subsequent mailing. At the end you receive something really cool.

Though I have doubts, there is also the demon jar and filigree of shadow
that could contain puzzle-y things. The latter will supposedly have options for endings, much like the latter of your redacted experiences, so I'm interested to hear how they differ later!

Third MailingA very small mailing. It contains the following items: - An evidence bag with a USB drive contained inside. The USB drive contains a lengthy audio file (close to twenty minutes) that concerns something gone awry with a fishing boat.
A note saying to hide the recording after listening to it.
