What does "day lock" mean? I am not a print subscriber and only have solved the missive email puzzles Same question. For those of us jumping in at the missives (looks like a few of us), do we need co catch up with Vol 3 to go any further? Welcome! I'm going to say yes. The missive locks are what we call "night" locks because the background is dark. You'll notice there are 44; ten in each of the four quarterly issues of Curios and Conundrums and the four from the missives. If you switch the toggle to the "day" side, so called because it's brighter, you'll find the crossed fingers you solved and also a sundial- but we have 22 there spanning the entire year. The sundial relates to the issues in Volume 3, and it's one we're currently solving.

I came late to the party too, just finding CnC a few months ago. I went back and started with Volume 1 and I'm really glad I did -- it's been such a fun ride! Plus, there's a great group of people here to help you along should you need it. You have plenty of time to catch up and join us for Volume 4.

Sigh, I am just stuck on this one, using both international and continental Morse Code. The second part I am just not getting at all. Any one care to take pity on a blithering idiot?

You should probably ask Samuel F.B. and Louis of Coupvray
