This text appears in a small box on page 4: Beneath is a small block of text which appears to contain encrypted text using an odd mish-mash of characters. I haven't seen anyone mention this strange item and I'm curious whether anyone knows its significance. Some ideas I have are spoiler marked. The readable line is a very strange sentence (Apium graveolens is wild celery). I suspect it might be some kind of null cipher.
The non-readable bit isn't using any known alphabet, but seems to be a random collection of characters. Word length doesn't match the text above, and punctuation suggests that the text is reversed. The odd frequency and distribution of ascenders/descenders suggests some kind of Baconian cipher. There are either 80 or 81 characters, depending on how one interprets the last glyph on the second line.

It's much simpler than you think. Just sit back and reflect on it for a spell

Just sit back and reflect on it for a spell That was one of my initial thoughts (since the plain text hints at this), but I didn't have much success, even with with a physical aid. Perhaps I need to approach the problem from a different angle.

Assistance requested please My thoughts so far have been to do like the bridge letter - that the normal text explains the coded text, which I read to mean: The three men drank their Apium graveolens garnished drinks ---> Vigenere using bloodymary as the key
Before looking at the polished silver ---> mirror images So, in theory, to 'undo' the message I'd need to read it in a mirror then decode it using a Vigenere square. Except, I can't read the text either upside-down or backwards, and running my best approximation on it yields absolute gibberish.

You'll need to be fairly generous in your interpretation of inverted letters.

You'll need to be fairly generous in your interpretation of inverted letters. Ok, so I feel like an idiot. I was making this much too hard. I was convinced there was a Vigenere ciphere there, and there's not. I ran it through so many ways. ehopqjv - simple mirror writing from the side. wkh phvvdjh - simple mirror writing from the side, starting at the bottom hppaahd hkm - simple mirror writing from the top. mkh bhaaqqh - from the top and backwards.
None of these make any sense decrypted with Bloody Mary as the key.
Then I had another look at the first line. Three men. And Bloody Mary isn't just a drink. *bangs head repeatedly against desk* I'm going to go sit in a corner, without a bloody mary in hand, and question my own intelligence for the next while, if anyone's looking for me...

I have been questioning my intelligence since subscribing Can you give this lass a push in the right direction... I have spent a while reflecting on the matter to no avail

There are two steps to getting the message from this: 1. Getting the encrypted text. Several clues above allude to how to do this. 2. After step one, the text will still be encrypted. You will need to decrypt it.

I need a nudge for this one as well I held the text in a mirror and copied down what I THINK the reversed letters equate to and tried putting it in a vigenere cipher with a variety of keys, but keep getting gibberish

It's not a cipher. It's just a really odd font.

Man, I am feeling especially dense, even if it's just a really odd font , It still looks like gibberish to me

Not sure if I'm on the right track or not. I took that to mean a Caesarian shift and used 3 because of the three men, but it still netted me nothing.
