Not entirely sure what you are asking here, Ging. The third drawer is for words that show up in a dictionary. That is the name has to have an English meaning. So Ratzenburger would never fit in that row but Long (the opposite of short) or Alley (a space between buildings) might. My tip: the MPC uses a dictionary that includes the plural forms of words. Meant would names like "Perlman" be disqualified since they appear, but are last names of actual people? They're all fairly common English words. So while Perlman might be a word you could find in the dictionary, it would be disqualified, yes.

Coming back to C&C after a long absence (this is what happens when you move and your puzzles end up in the wrong box... ) Can someone confirm that 'has seven letters' means 'has ONLY seven letters'? And that unique vowel means only one of each (aeiouy)? I've double checked the clues on the website, and I found them correctly, but every time I get my grid half solved, I run into a mistake that either blocks one name or one column out of the puzzle entirely. I'm tired of getting that far only to mess up, and I want to solve this issue before going on to the backlogged issues of season 4. Thanks!

Or, to reword your question just a little, I can confirm that "has seven letters" means "is EXACTLY seven letters in length". For the unique vowel, on the other hand You only need at least one of all six vowels. So as long as you have at least one a, e, i, o, u, and y in that column (I think it was a column, anyway), you're good to go!

I'm going nuts. Got several in and once again there's an error. Could someone please PM the answer to A3? Right now it's looking like NOTHING works (I just put Alley in E6?) Thank you,

The logic puzzle part of this is tripping me up-- there's something obvious I think I'm missing. For some of the names, it seems like they could go into multiple drawers. For example, "Chicken" contains a 4 point Scrabble letter, is seven letters long, and can be found in an English dictionary. Is there a rules hierarchy that I'm missing?

I think what you're missing is to look at this on a cabinet level. Once you select the names for a cabinet, there is only one way to can assign those names to drawers so that each drawer's rules are followed. "Chicken" may fit three drawer's rules, but if another name only only fits the "seven letter" rule, it must go in that drawer, leaving chicken in one of the other two drawers. Let me know if this doesn't help.

That got it for me. I was allowing more than one name per drawer.
Your hint was ...excellent!

picked it all up again after a year of absence and trying to finish up vol 3 now. Sadly with this one (as well as the 2 last crosswords still) I feel my shortcomings in the English language. Can I send someone with what I have in the drawers that could guide me a bit where I am going wrong?

After that on to the last 2 crosswords, which is the only thing I really dislike, I feel my lack of US media knowledge and English vocabulary there the most . But managed the previous 2 so should be ok with a lot of time and google
