So, for my friend's birthday (not happening until July, so I have time), I am putting together a treasure hunt of sorts. I was hoping I could use you fine folks to help me playtest parts of it, let me know if you think it is too difficult, suggest tweaks, etc etc. It begins with a note (which I am planning on having the waiter mysteriously deliver to our table). It will contain a cryptic note with a strange border (that is a pretty simple morse code). That leads to an email address, which will autoreply with the following photo (this is the first puzzle I want you guys to see if you can crack)(PS: It may help to know I live in Chicago, IL):

OK, I'll bite. If I graph this as points with a-z on the abscissa, it seems like it might be relative building heights. I found a picture looking down the Chicago River with the Sears tower that's kind of a dead ringer, maybe that bridge at the bottom is the next place to go? Warm? Cold? Or is this a stay in one place sort of treasure hunt?

It is not a stay in one place sort of treasure hunt. My plan is for every other clue (the evens) will send her somewhere to pick up the next message. My plan is to use keyboxes (the kind real estate people use to hold keys) with alphabet codes, flyers stapled to telephone poles, maybe one of those geocache embedded USB keys... So, yes this clue leads somewhere.
I'm not entirely sure how you got this answer (I am dying to know. Send me a PM), but that is not the answer I was looking for.
Thank you for giving it a shot.

So one or two people have privately contacted me and they had the right idea, but still got the wrong place. I have an idea for fixing it. Does this help?

Is your friend familiar enough with the area to use these in the right order?

If done correctly, you shouldn't need to know the area to get it.

Would you prefer we PM you with our thoughts?? My thought is that these are bus or train lines and times to catch them or at least go to the stops

Would you prefer we PM you with our thoughts?? My thought is that these are bus or train lines and times to catch them or at least go to the stops If you have a final answer, PM me. But here is fine for general guesses. As for your guess, it is not correct. I am interested in what lead you in that direction, though.
