Yes. There are three separate hours of prayer but they are all numerical. Such as "First" "Third", etcetera. I had also thought of "Vespers" "Mass" but with no way to make them 5 letters and still have the word make sense. I may have to re-consult my musical terms again as well. Actually there are eight. And Vespers is one of them.

I think I understand what I am looking for now.
Edit: pray was an excellent clue. Thank you to all who helped my thought process to become more flexible. 😊

Hi, At risk of not reading the whole thread and not knowing for sure if this has been solved (but I'm guessing it has been by now) these were my thoughts and I'm wondering if you can tell me if my thoughts should be used toward another end or dropped completely. So first thing is... the sundial must connect to all four papers as the codex suggests. The "Medium" story is the one continuous article that runs through all four papers. Then I considered the rebus in the fourth paper that asks you to stack the titles and read down When doing this it seems that if I look for when mercury is in retrograde and a blue moon is also taking place, I get a small window in May 2016. I tried May 22 since that was the day after the blue moon (the blue moon's shadow I thought), but no luck. Please point me in the right direction, even if it doesn't concern this lock. Thank you!

The rebus you refer to does indeed concern this lock but, to the best of my knowledge, nobody has successfully followed this path to a satisfactory conclusion. Instead, the Sundial Day-Lock was solved by extensive educated guesswork. Personally, I looked at the map and saw something that gave me a hint as to "when" harvest time was. But turning that into a 5-letter word was achieved by using a hint on this thread, which in turn was apparently provided after painstaking searching/trial & error/brute force by whoever finally hit upon the right idea.

Oh, and as for the "titles" that you need to "stack"; those are not the ones you need.

Stuck on sundial. Have solved flask, key, and leaf. will appreciate hints. Someone with more authority (namely, Todd) please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe anyone has legitimately solved this puzzle. I know I didn't. Also, even though it pops up right away, it's more of an ending puzzle as what you presumably need to solve it is clued in on Issue 3.4's pages. Since you said you've solved the flask, key, and leaf, I'm going to assume that you're still on 3.1. I'd recommend working through the other issues and keeping this one on the back burner for now.

We have available the sundial lock, which contains the question
"When must it be harvested?" Edit: hint follows: time was not always numeric. Hours had different names through history. THIS! thanks a bunch
