I do not think knowing will hinder my experiences at all. Oh, I did not mean to imply that it would - just that the singular exhilaration of the truly unsuspected is a rare thing indeed. I can agree with that

Were do most of you guys start when you receive your paper? I have read the same advice: start with the crossword, and then look for similar things (like pics) that have something in common... and sometimes they add up to further puzzles, but you need to have the bases covered first (like do the crossword puzzle first to get the answer to the next puzzle). I haven't gotten my first issue yet, but as I am going to be more of a "guide" for my recipient (and I want to keep her interested, and I don't want her to rip up the paper...), I have been doing research ahead of time. I've been using the very nicely organized threads on this forum, as well as the wiki.

I found out that members were advised that v3.3 would not be made available separately Holly, did you ever receive a response back about v3.3 from MPC? I'm in the same boat. I sent them a similar question today, though I got a bit ridiculous with it: "Dear Friends, I am happy to report that Volume 3 Chapter 1 of Curios & Conundrums arrived at my doorstep today. However, before I delve deeper into its mysteries, there is a troubling matter that needs be resolved. What has occurred to Chapter 3? Will the full resolution of Volume 3 be denied to me, held tantalizingly beyond my reach? Is there no manner in which I may partake fully of both its curios and conundrums? My dear friends, I look to you for guidance and, I hope, a favourable response. Sincerely, Your Friend" Like I said, ridiculous.

Here is the reply: Hello Holly!Regarding the elusive third chapter: it is indeed not at the moment available for individual sale, and will soon be offered only as part of collected catch up volumes, not unlike the Omnibus that groups the first two volumes together. I agree this does not help you, however, as you do not need to purchase superfluous issues. I am told we will be able to offer only you the chance to order Chapter 3 as a one-off, in the next week or two. I am awaiting a link from Those To Whom I Report that I can send you, to do so. I have flagged this correspondence and will send the link to you as soon as I see it. Thank you for your patience, and of course, should you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me forthwith. Allena Concierge with Member Servicesat The Mysterious Package CompanyI bolded the "only you" part because it appears they only want to do it on a case by case basis-- I am confident they will reply to you with a similar response, though! I have not gotten the follow up link yet.

And I guess I should also make use of this thread to actually introduce myself. I discovered MPC through the Filigree Kickstarter a few weeks ago, and as I began to research the Company, I subsequently found this forum. Also in the last few weeks I've signed up for the The Haunted Dollhouse, subscribed with The Mystery Experiences Company, and will soon pony up for the Armchair Detective Company's mystery boxes. This is in addition to backing Filigree. I had no idea this stuff existed and now I've become a tad bit obsessed. But only a tad. Hi everyone!

My story is very similar to yours-- found MPC via the Filigree Kickstarter, backed it at the Experience level, went to the site and bought all the Curios and Conundrums papers to send to my mother, and down the rabbit hole we have fallen... I fail to see any part of your enquiry that would warrant ridicule. And I guess I should also make use of this thread to actually introduce myself. My story is very similar to yours-- found MPC via the Filigree Kickstarter, backed it at the Experience level, went to the site and bought all the Curios and Conundrums papers to send to my mother, and down the rabbit hole we have fallen... XD My history with the Company largely follows the same beats as yours. Had I not - by pure coincidence, I might add - stumbled across the funding campaign for The Century Beast, I would, to this day, not even be aware of the wonderful work they are doing. I would also have a good deal more money to spare, as I am not not only encouraged to partake in the offers by The Mysterious Package Company, but this community comes up with new and exciting ways to spend seemingly every other day! Sadly, my recipients have so far been less enthusiastic than yours. I like to think that this is because both of them have other things on their mind and that once they manage to make some time, they will be much more present around here. But, thanks to the antics of mischievous spirits, I may be able to bring two more into the fold by the end of the year.

Oh man, that would bum me out a lot if someone didn't like the Experience I sent them... they're not cheap, after all, and I could have easily sent them to myself and had loads of fun... :\

They have just both been rather... passive so far. I have made a deal with myself to use the curated Experiences soleley as a recruiting tool - after all, they make for a delightful gift and gain an additional layer of mystery from not being aware of the Company at all. The Curiosities and the quarterly on the other hand, as well as the products of other companies are mine, and mine alone!

I personally don't have a lot of interest in the Experiences, not because the surprise would be ruined, but because I'm a minimalist/anti-materialist... I don't like "things," and the Experiences very much center around "artifacts." That's why I love the C&C periodical... I could do without the curios, but I LOVE the mysteries in the succinct paper format. Even then, I'm sending them to my mom first to experience, and then I will read them later while she keeps the papers at her house.

Well, apparently we are all introducing ourselves. I'm a little late, though I would like to think fashionably so. I am new to C&C as of Volume 3, though I did sign up back in February. Sadly, due to an issue with a P.O. Box, I didn't receive the first two issues until late in August. I feel quite behind, but am doing my best to somewhat catch up. I have just joined this forum as of today, though I've been stalking the chat room for a few months. About me? I'm from Arizona, in the U.S. of A. I proclaim myself the (probably) youngest person on this forum, at exactly the number of shillings in a guinea minus the largest single syllable number in the English language plus the number you'd call the police for in the world's most populous democracy minus the room in the year the first Australian(s) reached the top of Mount Everest. I like to be unnecessarily complicated (as evidenced already ), I love to make up puzzles, and I have a gigantic inventory of interests, including but not limited to: cooking, writing (novels, scripts, and short stories), music (composition, singing, piano, listening to it), geography (I am fascinated by other cultures and would love to make it over to Europe some day), science and history, video games (design, playing them), puzzles, foreign languages (I speak English and Spanish and am currently working on adding French to the repertoire), filmmaking, theater (musical and not), and dance. I have always loved puzzles, but the first thing that really focused me on them was the Professor Layton series of video games. I have played them all and completed every last puzzle in every game except for one particularly difficult one involving tiles and a duck that is the bane of my existence. I don't have any friends except Internet folks and pen pals, I am known to be funny to some and not to others, and I'm way excited to get my puzzle on with all of you, as awkward as I make that sound in text format. That's about it! I'm always uncomfortable talking about myself, because I feel like I'm bragging, so, uh, sorry if I came across that way. I'm normally found puzzle solving when I can't sleep at night/early morning, because I suffer from extreme insomnia. I've also never had a dream in my life (Random Fact™).

lucasscooter You're way ahead of me on the puzzle front-- I say I "like" puzzles, but I've never been very good at them. For me, it's more like saying "I like magic shows," because I enjoy them even though I have no idea how they are done XD But I will still try to deduce your age... is it... 24? If so, you're not that much younger than me I'm not clever enough to have figured out your signature, though Tried a few ideas; will try more later EDIT: regarding the signature... it's not Caesar, unless I missed it, but it's all alphabet... my knowledge of cryptology is much more limited than my knowledge of random trivia, thus I was inclined to think it might be MPC's apparent favorite Vigenere cipher... but I don't fully understand how to decrypt using a Vig square, having just learned the method existed, so I used a program to try to figure out the key... no luck, except if it is a Vig cipher, it would be at least an 8 letter key... but it could be a whole phrase or block of text... But from searching what information you've provided about yourself, I assume it's fairly obscure... so I give up even though I'm still curious XD
