can i check word 13 (22A hoi polloi)? is it something supplemental with an X? as it doesn't seem to make sense,,, Just going from memory but I think it is what the spare people on set are, filling out the background but not a part of the main action. Yes, something supplemental with an X or an item in addition to what is usual or strictly necessary.

I'm currently starting to solve Volume 2, and one big thing to remember here is that these crosswords mess with you not just with wordplay but also with the very grid itself, specifically with squares that are not supposed to be filled in. This particularly messed me up with 16D, where I had the answer from the start but thought it didn't work because there were too many squares, only to eventually realize that a blank square was involved. You should be very literal with that one.

Hi guys. I'm getting really frustrated and confused with five of these answers. 17A, 36A,5D,21D and 34D. I cannot work these out, any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have my notes with me so this is mostly memory work but I hope it helps. 17A : When you are freezing cold you are ______ than Pink Floyd who is Comfortably ____. Now pronounce the B 36A: If you watch television it is the B in CBS or NBC. 5D: If Todd gave you the answer then you can also say __ gave you the answer. Now add a T. Some squares look like squares but aren't really squares. 21D: Most doors leading out of a building are required to have ____ signs. If you add two Ss to this word (not beside each other) it becomes a state of being or why something ______. I can't remember the answer to 34D at this time.

The most common variety, especially in California, is what you're looking for, just without the second S.

Thankyou so much everyone!! You have all been such a massive help! The extra squares confused me a lot; think I'm on top of it now, you've all been so helpful.
