My crate arrived yesterday - a surprise given that I'm in the UK and am usually a couple of weeks behind. I'm also in the UK< did it make it through customs ok - i.e. not broken open, no VAT charges? Yep. No customs

It's a pretty nice item, though the experience has been so (pardon the phrase) "girly" that the artifact seems incongruous.

The artifact is definitely interesting. I'm not sure if I missed a detail in the other mailings or not, but I'm not entirely sure of the significance of the artifact itself in relation to the story thus far (especially the removable piece). I assume/hope that the epilogue mailing will shed some light on it.

The "Removable piece", that sounds interesting Since it seems you've seen the spoiler pictures on the main site, the smaller item in the picture came in a slot in the other piece.

See, that's quite sweet really, you can keep the bigger thing at home on display and wear the other when out and about so it's always with you, quite a nice idea.

I got this experience for my wife, who is not a horror fan, and more or less told her to wait until the artifact mailing (she's so used to me getting weird things in the mail by now that she thought it was for me at first, saw it addressed to her, and figured out what this was from very quickly). She did so and opened everything today, and she both loves the artifact and has now fallen in love with MPC experiences, so big success for this one from my view of things! Now she won't be as weirded out by the Haunted Dollhouse packages!

I got that much. I'm more interested in why Une chose this artifact, out of all of the other theoretical possibilities. What is its significance to her? Why does it need to be kept safe?

Just opened the crate last night. The item I received is painted in pale colors, not plain "stone" as shown in the spoiler photo on the MPC website. Also, I did not receive the second smaller piece! Has everyone else received the small round item in the crate along with the larger item? And ... On the whole, I'm just sort of puzzled by "Under the Ceiba Tree." Seeing the experience in its entirety, it just doesn't seem to work very well. And I'm not the only one who doesn't seem to find a concrete link between the final item in the crate and the rest of the mailings, unless it's simply such a primitive sculpt of the were jaguar that it doesn't really "click."

Has everyone else received the small round item in the crate along with the larger item? I got the smaller item, but it's not on the braided rope as in the photo on the site. Also, it feels strangely tacky like it hasn't fully cured. It reminds me of a gummy candy--it's not that soft, but the color is pretty vibrant and I expected a bit more weathered like in the photo/more along the lines of the similar item in the Century Beast Experience. Is yours fully painted? Mine only has little bits of color, mostly on the cuffs.

I'll post a photo tonight or tomorrow.
Where was the extra round item located in your crate Ms. Hall?

Our "extra piece" was located in a slot on the front base of the statue. Very hard to miss due to the bright color, and you have to kind of tilt the statue forward to have it slide out. And I agree with Virginia that the item has a strange texture. Also, our statue looks just like the item in the spoiler photo; it is supposed to be weathered, so I wouldn't assume a bright paint job! Finally, we also didn't get the small rope as shown in the photo.
What's interesting to me though is that based on the icons next to the mailings in the spoiler warnings section, this statue was just a regular mailing and not the big artifact mailing. Is that possible? I highly doubt it, as this seems quite substantial.

I think mine was also in its place in the base of the statue -- it was my daughter who actually unwrapped it, so I'm not entirely sure; she had the item tilted to get it unwrapped and it slid out & fell on the table, but it was definitely in the same wrapping as the main relic. I've contacted the MPC via the enquiry form on the website re: the missing rope, but I'm wondering if maybe it was meant to be excluded? Without it, the smaller item can be hidden more effectively. It's possible it's supposed to come with the 'epilogue'; our friend will maybe tell us the significance of the item and offer the string as a means to wear/keep the item with us. Edited 17 October to add: I've head back from a MPC concierge; the cord is not part of the Experience.
