Today a very special crate arrived from the MPC. It is the gift for those who pledged at the Beloved Patron level (of which, I think someone mentioned, there were 7).
I expected something small, but instead it's a full size crate. Unlike the normal crate, it's nicely finished and made of heavier wood with the company's symbol wood-burned into the lid (which slides out--no nails!).
Since there are so few of these, I shall post photos shortly. If you've read the issues of C&C closely, the artifact is something you've may have noticed in photos of the bespoke experiences.

I would love to see photos. Anything labeled "Beloved Patron" is automatically outside my spending limits.

Is it thematically connected to The Century Beast or does it tell its own story?

Not connected at all to The Century Beast, but I had no idea where else to post it!

Wow, that's so cool! I thought for sure it would be a ship's wheel similar to the bespoke one that has been featured a few times. I remember seeing a bronze (?) version of that statue when I first started my involvement with the MPC. ( link to photo ) I liked it so much, it was one of the reasons I joined! The crate looks really nice, too.

Virginia, I believe that the version shown in the photo you linked to is gold-painted resin. Casting this in bronze would be incredibly expensive and the statue would be enormously heavy.
Anyway, happy to share! Can anyone confirm that this is Cthulhu?

Can anyone confirm that this is Cthulhu? It fits the description of the idol from "The Call of Cthulhu", and the one sketch Lovecraft made of it. The descriptions can be found in the beginning of the second capter of "The Call of Cthulhu", and this is the sketch:

My pleasure, and thank you for sharing!
The story also mentions an inscription around the base of the idol. I cannot quite make it out, did the Artisan include those, too? Originally the writing should be indecipherable...

I don't recall seeing any writing or symbols on the base.

That must be the "very special custom artifact, designed exclusively for you by the Artisan" that is part of Beloved Patron. I can confirm that it is Cthulhu.

WOW. That's quite a nice item. Shame the rest of the experience doesn't live up to that, also a shame they didn't try to incorporate it into the story. But, a nice item indeed.
