And today brought the second delivery. I like this being in the same country as the producers of the experience lark. This time comes the first three, interlinked, puzzles - a typed up sheet of A4 with half story, half number substitution code, plus a sheet of acetate with certain areas highlighted and a curious rectangle drawn in one corner. Solving the cipher gives a riddle and an instruction, decoding the instruction gives you a destination for the riddle's answer and leads us deeper into the rabbit hole... ....this one in particular really sparked a lot of interest in DD3 and DS2 (14 and 12 respectively) and makes me suspect that if I can save up a bit for it then Under The Ceiba Tree right actually be right up their alley.

Psst... Craig -- you might want to use spoiler tags so that others in the UK who have ordered it or people in the US who might order it if they get the opportunity won't read things they don't want to.

(Good idea) Followup to last post: and if you carry out the instructions, you'll receive a strange picture and a binary code to decipher

Delivery #3 today, containing two items: Another typed letter, with a heterodox chess puzzle, solution to be kept for later....a real poser this one, but we got there in the end and two pages from a diary - very Risen-like you might think in execution if not plot or finale - introducing a number of elements that can be researched online for added depth and context.

It seems hard to believe but two more deliveries made in the last six days... Delivery #4 A postcard, a wax-sealed letter from a medium and some spirit writing....which to my dismay I've yet to decipher if there is anything beyond the surface which implies....something important and Delivery #5 A sudoku puzzle to be cracked to give a phone number, an instructional letter with what to do with it, and a (possibly) final puzzle, a large piece of cryptography to decipher which has kept me occupied much of today and has been a hugely pleasureable and satisfying experience to solve By my reckoning there is now just one more delivery to come and it should be the final locked box containing the artifact Even without that, frankly this has been well worth the money.

And so to Operation Delta, their second release. Not out yet, I was invited to playtest this after my feedback on the first one was well received, and so a short summary of the three mailings so far: First mailing: A very posh invitation, envelope paper writing, all very well done and intriguing as to what membership lies in store Second mailing: A simple but intriguing letter from an insider promising to give me the tools to reveal all Third mailing: One of the most ambitious mailings I've seen - an inflated balloon in a box, which contains a jigsaw puzzle when popped plus a pseudo-encrypted password, and an envelope with a riddle hint For the third mailing, the puzzle or arguably puzzles themselves are not particularly tricky, it's the creativeness and care in the package which is really enjoyable.

Some of these deliveries remind me of creative invitations I've seen on pinterest and wedding blogs. Gotta love the unexpected!

The results of the Third mailing led to some internet work and some interesting digging, part of which led me to get ahead of the game a little as today brought the Fourth Mailing:- A portfolio-style folder containing a few bits and pieces, including a two page partially redacted leaked report filling in some backstory, another letter from my insider, and another puzzle as password from the same. I understand the desire in this package to hint at the cipher used, for accessibility purposes, but again the presentation is excellent and well thoughtout and this rabbit hole I've been led down has now led to a choice of two artifacts I think...

Is anyone playing the new free online game that is being offered? I spent some time on it today & so far, I'm enjoying it.* Also, thanks craigrj for the reports. I've wanted Operation Delta since the Kickstarter; I hope they're able to branch out to the US at some point. (One of my sons uses that name as his gamertag, so I thought he'd get a kick out of it.) *ETA: LOL, I see two people I recognize on the free game leaderboard. ☺

I enjoyed it. Particularly because I was forced to involve friends who normally aren't into this kind of stuff who were VERY excited to be helpful.

I have been playing stone giants and received the final curio today. Up until today I haven't been that impressed. The puzzles were relatively simple although the final one was pretty time consuming and fun. There was one where I had to text a number once solving the puzzles which I did three times but got nothing back. To be fair I could have had the solution wrong (I don't think I did) or even the text number wrong. It just felt like some of the things didn't lead anywhere, and apart from a torn out diary entry page, there wasn't much to research and stick my teeth in to. Today however I received the final curio, and I have to say, for the money it's pretty good. My one complaint though is that it would have been much better if they made the final lock to open the curio into a puzzle as well rather than just providing the code on an envelope. That was pretty disappointing. All in all, I would purchase from them again. Operation delta doesn't really appeal to me, but if they do a special offer on it I would think about it. I'll certainly keep an eye on what the future brings with this company.
