Hi! I'm new to the forums and finally have a long weekend to catch up on solving my old Curios and Conundrums. I didn't receive these when they were originally published, but I received the catch-up omnibus late last year.
I'm looking at Volume 01 - Issue 01, and I've solved the crossword puzzle and put together the corresponding message. What I'm curious, about, however, is whether I need the curios that I don't have in order to solve further (i.e., to unlock the Vault).
Thanks!

Welcome. Images of all of the curios are available here in the forum or on the wiki.
The community will make sure you have everything you need.

Thank you! I looked at the images, and made a guess at the first vault access code. I think I'm now locked out for 24 hours. I either had a 50% chance of getting it right the first time, or I'm taking the word "digits" too literally.

The first two volumes were considerably different than the third. You shouldn't try to access the Volume 1 Vault until you've worked through all five issues in Volume 1.

I'm fairly certain I know what all the vault access codes are. I do, however, have three questions (which I hope are ambiguous enough not to be spoilers): - Does order matter? I've been locked out several times after entering codes which I'm certain are correct, but perhaps I need the proper sequence.
- Does exact spelling matter? Some words (one in particular) might have different American/Canadian English spellings.
- If a vault code is a persons name, does a last name suffice, or does the vault require the full name?

Yes, order matters. Yes, spelling matters. Yes, last name is sufficient. This was part of the mystery of the Vault in the first two volumes. Figuring out the order of the keys and what words to use without already knowing the number of letters. I'll be happy to help you with more specifics of you like.

Some trial and error is inevitable.

IIRC, the puzzle solutions themselves tell you in what order the keys should be entered. If you've finished the entirety of volume 1, then you'll know the order. They're chronological.

Actually, chronological order by chapter did not work for me. After entering the 2 curio-related codes from the prologue, I had to enter solutions from a certain type of puzzle from Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then from a different type of puzzle from Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4.

I finally remembered to check this, and... The crossword in V1C3 does in fact give the grouping, but it gives the incorrect ordering.
If we consider the correct 4 groups of vaults codes as ABCD (where A is stipulated in V1C1), the crossword gives the order of the final 3 parts as CBD instead of BCD.

I'm afraid I'm in need of some assistance... first off I noticed that 2Down has no parenthetical # byt the other #s go from 1 to 27 then 29-30. Can I safely assume that the answer to 2 down will go in the space for 28? Also, if have answered correctly (except 15A, 2D & 10D could use some hints) the resulting string makes no sense? On the bright side I got the horoscopes..just clueless what they are good for...sigh
