All of the horoscopes share a common theme. The secret of each horoscope: Aries Hard Times Taurus Going Into Society Gemini Bleak House Cancer The Uncommercial Traveler Leo Great Expectations Virgo A Message from the Sea Libra Our Mutual Friend Scorpio Hunted Down Sagittarius A Tale of Two Cities Capricorn The Haunted Man Aquarius A Christmas Carol Pisces The Pickwick Papers From these the common theme should be easy to discern.

I don't have this issue with me at the moment, but are these excerpts from the text of the horoscopes, or are they the titles to which each horoscope refers? It could be fun just to quote a piece of key text from each horoscope that is most evocative of the source material to which it is referring, that way it is less "Googleable", lol. Does that make sense?

I never found the horoscopes particularly challenging because they are so "Googleable". It's usually very obvious to me which words they are forcing in the horoscopes, and picking two or three of those keywords will usually find you your author.
Where this puzzle became fun for me was when I tried to find every one of references.
I'm not sure exactly what you're suggesting, but I'm open minded.

Where this puzzle became fun for me was when I tried to find every one of references. I'm not sure exactly what you're suggesting, but I'm open minded. I've gotten much better at them, but I still find them a bit challenging, especially with unfamiliar references (which is most of them:P). So I'm thinking maybe instead of listing the references themselves, I could highlight the "key" text from the Horoscopes. For example, when the title is actually stated in full I might write the sentence: "Are you afraid of falling on hard times?
Or restate it so as to highlight the concept without giving the title away. Probably under the guise of a fortune teller to whom you would go to get further insight into your horoscope: Aries: What are you afraid of?
Or
Aquarius, your lucky words are: Christmas, avoid, spirit, carol, planning, & pay off. I'm just thinking this would be fun to do if I ever give hints for the horoscopes, but I'm not sure if you wanted to keep them all in the same style/format?

I appreciate your suggestions. I will say that I don't really have it in me to create 108 new riddles for 12 horoscopes across 9 issues.
What if we turn it into a different kind of puzzle and encrypt the story titles? Using different types of ciphers to keep it challenging. Some could be atbash. Some ROT13. Some substitution.
Or what if we give them spaces and vowels and let them figure out the consonants?

I just wanted to run that idea by you in case I ever wanted to try and provide hints for some of the horoscopes. I'm thinking that it doesn't matter so much if each one has the same kind of hints, so we can kind of just do some here and there.
