Since there is no sub-heading for this new experience, into the "General Discussions" folder it goes.
Any thoughts? More "customize-able?" A free T with the slightly higher cost? This looks like fun!!

Nope....I bought Century beast 4 months ago and have received 1 shipment that contains four pieces of paper. NEVER AGAIN. This guy is a crook.

I love the idea of a more family-oriented experience. I would not know off the top of my head who to send it to right now - the friend of mine with three children around the house and a strong dislike for horror stories received Tempus Fugit last year - but from the description it seems as if with this experience one can be quite certain not to spook the recipient unduly.

Unfortunately the mailings are just too infrequent and disorganized to put much faith into this. I don't think they are crooks and ctoit75 says but they need to get their act together. Not ordering anything else for now.

I bought it--have enjoyed all the experiences very much so far, though I have my doubts that The Century Beast is going to be worth double the price of everything else at $400. I've received 7 mailings and do not see why everything so far has been paper (except the Rune trinket and the flash drive) and why that paper costs so much. I sure hope the crate contains something truly amazing that blows the contents of the previous of the crates out of the water--so to speak! Still, I will give MPC the benefit of the doubt, and so ordered the new experience. Always fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

I'm really tempted by this one, but I'm reluctant to commit since A) my family has shown exactly zero interest in The Century Beast mailings we've been receiving (except for my one cat who *loves* chewing on the packaging of one of the items; she's enjoying TCB more than the rest of us combined) and B) I was superOMGsparklepony! excited for TCB, and it's actually been a really underwhelming experience so far. I'm afraid that the Experiences just aren't my thing and I'm going to be disappointed again. But oh, man! Raiders of the Lost Ark! The Goonies! Jumanji! The Princess Bride! The Curator & Co really know how to market to me.

Yes but we've heard that before, in the MPC forums they promised repeatedly that they had their act together. But, they really don't. You can only blame the expansion and the office move for so long. Don't get me wrong; the marketing on this is highly appealing... but... I just don't trust them to deliver. And, like others, I have enjoyed my very sporadic Century Beast mailings but they really haven't lived up to the hype/expectations/cost.

I've received 7 mailings and do not see why everything so far has been paper (except the Rune trinket and the flash drive) and why that paper costs so much. Although there have been incorporeal items as well; I am thinking of the GNARLSPUTRESCENT website and song, as well as the audio file on the USB stick, and the academic website that should be forthcoming. If those justify the higher price tag is certainly a different matter. And then we still do not know what will be in the box beside the central artifact. A) my family has shown exactly zero interest in The Century Beast mailings we've been receiving I had to readjust my own expectations of my brother's reactions to the mailings a bit myself. To be fair, I dropped this Experience on him during a time where he was rather preoccupied with other things, and something I noticed with the other Experience I sent as well was that people are more involved when they still think that there is something to be solved - they became a lot more passive once they realized it was "just" a story being told. Well, since the overwhelming success of the Kickstarter campaign and the coverage that went with it was likely the start of their growing pains, I would not realistically expect those issues to be truly resolved until the first run of The Century Beast has concluded, which should be the case just about the time they start shipping Under The Ceiba Tree. Still, waiting until others have received theirs, and without delay, might be the most sensible thing to do if one cares more for delay-free shipping than preorder pricing and a shirt.

I really think, at least so far, that any of the other four experiences have been far more satisfying and better priced than "The Century Beast." So I expect the new experience to fall more in line with King in Yellow, Tempus Fugit, The Weeping Book, and Risen. However, if it disappoints, and The Century Beast doesn't end with a gigantic bang, I'm afraid my time with MPC will be done.

Oh, this makes me happy I still have three of the older Experiences still to come. I must also say that I find this community as well as the Curator's correspondence singularly pleasant.

Sorry but I don't buy it... all of their experiences were badly delayed, not just Century Beast. They could have suspended orders while they caught up, but they didn't, and that led to a subpar experience for those who ordered them. To add to what thegenii said, the products I've sent to people -- not including TCB, which I sent myself and has been only so-so (and certainly not worth the tremendous cost/delays) -- have been high quality. But, the execution has been badly flawed and delayed. Then, to top it off, the first edition of the new volume of Curios was a completely letdown in the opinion of many. I assume many cancelled after that, which is why they re-opened orders for the next issue AND announced some of what would be inside it as well.
