That's a current theory, worth exploring. We just don't know yet.

I tried this and I came up with the letters :

Ran those through an online anagramer and they don't all get used but one thing did stand out to me when I did it.

Anyone else go down the path of only finding half of the words in the puzzle and then look at what was left? Nothing jumped out at me....

Tried this and only got 5 letters to cross.

The kids were right: the floor IS lava. But they were wrong about the fire-resistant properties of sofa pillows.

here is my thoughts (and my smarter spouse's!)

The word clues are all different types of conspiracies and the circled letters spell out tinfoil hat. while i don't know what to do about the left over letters, i did check out the instructions for the tinfoil hat. The instructions specifically call it an ALUMINIUM hat.

i don't think that is a good road to head down, since i don't think you will need the curios to solve the puzzle.

What i do think is this: the six letter word that we need is a conspiracy that is not listed in the clues. similar to the way the word stack was solved. I am working my way (hour by hour) through the various ways to allude to the 'faked' moon landing.
