I cannot believe they would give up on the Sitting Room entirely; is it not more likely that the future solution is technically so different from the old one that they cannot simply implement it the same way?

Having run a Forum as part of my own business since 2001, and having migrated to new software on several occasions, I can say with some degree of experience that it's very tricky. And it gets exponentially more difficult if you're trying to preserve existing posts, keep them properly linked to members, while carving it up into categories. And it's expensive as hell to do because it's time consuming.
The thing that makes me think they are going to let it go is because it became such a mess with the flood of new people and they didn't seem to have active moderators (which are an absolute necessity). Having it closed for however long it's been now, the MPC folks may be thinking "Do we really need all that trouble?" When I first started during the Kickstarter, I was amazed at how The Sitting Room was such a cloistered and well-balanced community. That's gone, now. Even if they get The Sitting Room up and running again, that's gone.
All of this is part of the expansion of the company, which makes the majority of its money, I would imagine, selling experiences rather than C&C. And considering how late they are on deliveries and the number of complaints, they're in trouble. If you can't provide the parts of the experiences in a timely way, you'll drive your customers away rather than turning them into repeat customers. And if you expand too quickly, which I think they did, sometimes it catches up with you.

I find it hard to believe they would do away with the Sitting Room entirely. A crucial aspect of C&C is group puzzle-solving, and if they take away the Sitting Room, there's no place or means for people to congregate to discuss the puzzles and swap hints, theories, and clues. I mean, obviously, there's this forum and the chatroom, but neither of those are officially affiliated with the MPC, so there won't be links to them on the website, and without the Sitting Room, we couldn't even let new people know about them. The SR had it's faults, and definitely needed a great degree of organization, but I hope they haven't just scrapped it completely.

I would find it hard to believe that they would abandon their efforts to build a community so easily. And it would be a shame, too. The old Sitting Room simply was not suited to such a large number of people at once, and I do so hope that once that issue has been remedied, this community will have the breathing room it needs to be excellent again.

I don't think anyone wants The Sitting Room to go away. But the MPC obviously seems to have limited resources. I can't remember the last time a merchant promised delivery of an item to me and it was six months late.

I contacted the Curator and received a reply. The Coloring Book and Very Special Note will only get mailed after The Century Beast ends. The special artifact for those who purchased at my level is in production. I'm quite hopeful it will be something special.
