Here's a connection between A New Era of Thought and Children of the Cavern (at least on the surface): it turns out that A New Era of Thought, the book, was based on Plato's allegory of the Cave (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave). Plato's cave is all about seeing things in a different light, and people's perception of reality based on their own perception of reality. This has Message in the Medium written all over it. So there's at least one thing on the surface. Also the two books were published in 1877 and 1888 respectively. So from a literary perspective they would have been influenced by similar social conditions. Will dig a little deeper.

The dates seem to come in 3's, by decade. Not sure why, except that the OSS met every decade.

GREAT CATCH, Mrsade11! What date did v1 say they started?? I think the first two issues of the NY Socialite make mention. I know the article in 1.2 says when donations to the museum started.

This is what stuck out from the curio list. There are probably some gaps, and after 1999 the next date is 2013, which breaks the 30 yr. pattern. But a lot of things seemed to happen in threes. Anne Taylor:1901 The OSS membership cards:1931 The NY Socialite Article:1969 Stephen Ellis's Obit:1999

In 1866, Crime and Punishment was published. In 1899, Heart of Darkness was published.
Probably not related to anything, but interesting all the same.

lol I spotted those too! I am intrigued as to the next editions title! I favour: Heart of Darkness: Darkness = Cave Seeing things in a different light - opposite is dark.. The Child of the Cavern was also released under the title The Black Indies = Black is relative to darkness

Just thinking out loud :-) Amen to that! Don't get me wrong, love the thought process. I was laughing because all together that would make one hell of an issue title!

Somehow, I don't think it's talking about coal, which is supposed to run through the heart of that particular darkness..
