Discuss the crossword puzzle here. Please provide hints, not answers, and use the Spoiler Tags to hide your hints (Press the button with the face holding a finger to its lips). For example: 34 Down - It takes two letters to make a scruffy-looking nerf herder more useful - Try this one Solo.

I don't see mention anywhere of the cipher below the crossword; have we addressed that, and if we have can you point me there?
Disregard. I'm now caffeinated and my brain is fully functioning.

I still have a good deal of work to do to get all of the puzzles up. The task is daunting enough that I have not made the time to do it.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions, as it helps chip away at the remaining puzzles.
I appreciate your participation!

Alright you puzzle sleuths...after an afternoon of catching up on back issues, I've come to a few crossword stumpers. I tried sustenance and to no avail. I'm stumped on the following:
5 Down (I think I have this and want to check my answer by asking for a different clue) 6 Down 9 Down 27 Down 30 Across 36 Across (and I"m not even sure I'm seeing the puzzle boxes correctly here either...one letter correct? Even still, stuck like glue) 39 Across 40 Across
As always, I appreciate the help here while I get caught up to the party. I'm eager to be working on the newest volume with you all, even while I continue to catch up. Many thanks!

My turn to be dense 6A: It comes after Tee but not after Tea 40A: Comes after Tee or Tea. I've solved the entire puzzle and gotten the answers to these already via process of elimination, but I still dont understand how the clues arrives at the answers, and my brain won't let me move on without understanding everything 100%. Please help me understand why the answers I already have relate to the clues. My guess on 6A is that it is a golf reference with the wrong spelling. My guess on 40A is that Tee and the answer are related via the alphabet, but I dont see how it comes after Tea.

My guess on 40A is that Tee and the answer are related via the alphabet, but I dont see how it comes after Tea. For 6 Across, "tea" is also the name for an evening meal in England. Your Golf reference is spot on. After teeing off, one must sometimes yell "Fore!", but tea is a meal that is never eaten before four. Whereas for 40 Across, they're saying this is a more universal pun. "You" can come punningly after "tee" or "tea", but "four" can only come punningly after "tee", as "tea" comes after four o'clock. Does that help?
