This is a thread by request for those who want to discuss possible mega theories at work here. Several people are discussing in individual story lines and by creating this topic I hope we can all enjoy the ideas without bouncing between threads. Cheers!

Ok, after reorganizing my notes...and feeling like we've only cracked the tip of the iceberg. I have a new Meta-arc Im looking at. I believe the curator is in hiding and andrew mccabe is in danger. He or Cedarian may have the philosophers stone. Mercury is a substance The Philosophers Stone turns into gold. The stone is frequently described in its high potency form to be red and dissolvable. The curator mentions relaxing in Vermillion. Possibly protecting the stone? The stone can CURE all ails as well as make you immortal and turn things into gold. It seems this is what the SZ is after and willing to kill for. The stone has been mentioned throughout history and been thought to be passed down only to go missing. Is this in our "collection"? And the reason for the article about emeralds? (Other famous, rich stones which have exchanged hands mult. Times, many with anonymous donors)
Alchemy sect. Relates directly to SZ as they are alchemists. It speaks of the stone directly. The stone is said to be able to make a homunculus. It has a direct relation to transformation/transfiguration. The symbols look like variances of the Philosopher stone symbol. That's all Ive got! Anyone thinking similar or very different?

I may be remembering something incorrectly (I cannot find my back C&C issues right now, which is driving me crazy) but wasn't there something in the Volume 2 issue 4 contents about McCabe's last name being spelled incorrectly--either with just one "c" or with a "c" and a "k"? I feel like that ties into the "c" theme (if I'm remembering this part of the story arc correctly). Anyone?

Hi, I'm a first time poster, and I'm not sure how much of my theory I'm actually supposed to reveal even while using spoilers. I have, however, discovered a connection between the constellations the map and the Message in the Medium story Several of the clues needed to make the connection are contained within the crossword I'd love to talk this out with someone!

Upon removing the C from our C words, and pronouncing the word aloud instead of looking at the spelling I got: CURE - Your CANCER - Answer CINEMATOGRAPHER - IN .... (and then that's where I started confusing myself, and stopped reading to attend to life, the universe, and everything.)

It would call into question whether we take the Curator at his word when he assures us that knowledge of the previous volumes is not required for Volume 3.

All very good points! Would like to also note that homunculus was one of the possible results from the Cosmic Quiz. I wonder if someone is trying to make one?

I've posted in a few places that I can't remember to copy and paste it all here so here's the berlitz version that I'm working with. Historically: Zosimos of Panolplis, an alchemist and hermetic in the 3rd Century who, among other bits of information: lived in Cairo for a time, wrote extensively using symbolism from all manner of world faiths. In his work "Isis the Prophetess and her son Horus" he mixes metaphor from Egyptian works as well as the Midrash to iconoclasticly parody the mysticism of religion and routinely returns to an over-arcing theme of what we, in current thought and terms, would describe as bio-medically resuscitating the dead by using the vapors of metals. Part of this is detailed in this book: Gnosis: An Esoteric Tradition of Mystical Visions and Unions. For those familiar with the Stede Myles case where Anthony Dubois, Patrick Morenson, and Horace McCabe died under mysterious circumstances, a statue of Horus was left at the scene. Also, writer of the New York Socialite, Christopher Bachman, was, I believe found dead in a Cairo hotel. It is my understanding that it is the same one where the annual reservations for SZ at Delmonico’s were arranged from. The re-occurrence of Horus and Cairo, and all of the allusions to alchemy can not possibly be coincidental. Which, leads us to today. When one compares prior email correspondence from The Curator where there was once talk of looking forward to the anticipation of Spring, we now see commentary of impending dread, unwanted and ill changes. In the latest broadsheet, we see that The Curator has gone on a "trip". But, I surmise that he indeed has gone on the lam and is in hiding. Making references to "revisiting the ruin" I can guess that perhaps he is in Louisianna where the old MPC/OSS ware house had been burnt to the ground. He also made the odd reference to the Nio. And the only Nio I am aware of are Japanese "guardians" to Buddhist temples. So perhaps he is in Japan? Given the change in tone and word choice in the most recent broadsheet as well as the outing of Andrew McCabe, and the introduction of "The Editor" and "The Emissary" (where in the old OSS there was "The Professor", "The Artisan" and "The Architect"), and to me, most notable are the use of vulgarities when in the prior broadsheet there was an article devoted to exactly not doing that, and the solution to the Patently Ridiculous and Perplexle puzzles: "You are not powerful, you are poisoned." PLUS all of the allusions to alchemy, transmogrification, and creatures with more than one "face" (werewolves, Jekyll & Hyde) and cheating death (like almost every article) point, to me, that Curios and Conundrums has been infiltrated by the Society of Zosimos. Andrew is, I believe, stil trying to warn us via the puzzles. And the "poisoned" warning is a calling out to The Editor. That's my $.02 at least.

All this is certainly some interesting theorizing, and there may turn out to be some truth in it. However, especially until we have more information, I would be careful about tying too much back to Volumes 1 and 2, or looking to the previous volumes for answers or connections. Remember, the Curator has assured us several times that Volume 3 begins a new story, and that no prior knowledge of Voles. 1 and 2 is necessary for this newest adventure.

There is a Chinese version of the constellation depicted in Kick. There are seven things represented, with an eighth unknown one attached. The three members of the old OSS complete a list that mirrors this.

What happened to The Professor, The Artisan, and The Architect? They were killed by the SZ at Petroglyphs Provincial Park in 1969. The story of their demise comprised much of the story arc of Volumes 1 and 2.

The story of their demise comprised much of the story arc of Volumes 1 and 2. I'm sorry if I am reaching, but I need to ask. Why was Steven Ellis's ceremony held in 1999?
