Baby shoes ad is long atributed to E.H. (the opposite of which he wrote) based off a bet he had with Canadian authors Clarke and Columbo. The term "flash fiction" was used. My aha! moment The envelope! "Nothing of substance can be said in less than 120 characters" . Does this confirm the theory that we are being lied to through our C words? Are they messages to the SZ that we would be good to understand or are they merely there to throw us off the trail?

Does anyone know the female who died last night? I found a passage from Victorian London - Publications - Our Social Bees; or, Pictures of Town & Country Life, and other papers, by Andrew Wynter, 1865 - Chapter 33 - The "Times" Advertising Sheet The paragraph is about personals in newspapers
"I remember once reading a line to this effect :— " The assistance came too late — she died in the night." Who was it that thus passed out of life the moment aid was at hand? who is it that remains to reproach himself with his tardiness? The reader pauses for a moment, and wonders what tragedy lies hidden in this brief space, and then relapses into the contemplation of the fierce struggle for the world's goods which the vast mass of the advertisements represent. Sometimes we see an announcement in this column which consists of only two or three letters. A correspondence in cipher is here being carried on."...

I figured out the reference to the "rose is a rose is a rose" ad. It's referring to Gertrude Stein who is famous for writing that quote. Her partner was Alice B. Toklas (who was the more housewife-like of the two apparently) who described herself as a "pretty good" housekeeper, gardener, needlewoman, etc. As kind of a play on words and a tribute to Gertrude Stein's famous line. But she stated that it would be hard to add "pretty good" author to the list so she had Gertrude write her biography for her. Hopefully this link works Click Here. Hope I formatted it correctly. I'm on my phone *shrug* It was quite an interesting read though. I'm not sure if it leads anywhere deeper than that.

Have cracked another personal. Where a Spies story is collected Let us in! I think you mean Let us Nin. A Spy in the House of Love is a novel by Anais Nin.

A little Google goes a long way. As regards Pyewacket the cat, it does tie to the movie Bell Book and Candle but the movie is just referencing the familiar spirit of a witch from England (specifically Manningtree, Essex) from 1644. And congratulations if you recognize that Manningtree, Essex is found one column over in the Personal Notes as the place where Jarmara the fat Spaniel was lost. Would you believe Jarmara was the name of another familiar spirit from the same witch incident in 1644? Other familiar spirits in the same account included Vinegar Tom, Sackle and Sugar, Newes, Ilemauzer, Pecke in the Crowne, and Griezzel Greedigutt.
And now I'm going to head off the deep end. Where are my keys? Found: Set of 3 keys on a ring.
The keys were found 4 ads down from where they were lost. 4 down on the crossword is "Reusable shopping bag brand". E-Z Tote is the Illuminati! CONFIRMED!

If it wasn't clear, the "going off the deep end" stuff was just me being silly.

I think you mean Let us Nin. A Spy in the House of Love is a novel by Anais Nin. Actually I meant the book where the story is collected is Cities of the interior . Which fits with the letter theme

They don't fit in with the theme in my opinion

They don't fit in with the theme in my opinion I don't know drrook, i think it fits quite well. i don't think the reference is witches, but rather the "familiar spirits." particularly lost familiar spirits.
We are reminded in Fabulous Deaths of "Sonnet X" which references death as a "transition" to the spirit.
Madame Morpheme is a medium who "conjures" spirits, but in her personal note Javier's spirit "wasn't there" or is a familiar spirit who is lost.
I personally think it may relate to the philosopher's stone. just my thoughts
