I am totally lost. I thought I had the perfect solution, but the vault didn't like it. I'll still cover it, but I don't think it is relevant at all. The compass anagrams to search at 6 (I don't like anagrams with less than all letters as there are hundreds of possibilities if you open that door). Anyway, searching on page 6, you see that the game has the same symbol as the Spot the Differences puzzle. The solution to that puzzle was connecting the dots and creating a constellation. If you connect the dots on the game board, the perfectly create the constellation CORVUS, a 6 letter C word. however, not right. I have skimmed some clues on here now, but my mind can't see any order to the map that corresponds to a square or diamond. I don't see how the physical features of the map help at all. I need some serious help. All of the cryptic answers don't mean anything to me. I think I can't unlearn the way I solved it to see anything else. Especially since that solution was so direct and accurate given the clues and pattern. It's one heck of a coincidence.

Especially since that solution was so direct and accurate given the clues and pattern. It's one heck of a coincidence. Unfortunately, this may remain a case of knowing what the answer is without a complete understanding of why. For those of us who worked Volumes 1 and 2, once we realized that we needed a six letter word for the answer, we were able to identify an anagram made of six of the eight compass letters. This word was frequently useful in Volumes 1 and 2, and we were soon to learn its usefulness did not end there. It's possible that the "6" in the compass rose was, in part, a wink and a nod to the people the worked the previous volumes. It resembles a part of the symbol for the zodiac sign Cancer, the crab. "Part of a crab" might be a claw, and from the Bridge Letter, we know what it means when he mentions "claw". But I'm almost certainly reaching there, especially since the 6 seems to be relevant in other ways. Feel free to send me a private message if you need more assistance.

Oh wow. I finally got it. Thank you. Ironically, the first thing I did wit this puzzle (weeks ago) was that kind of shift from H-N to see if it made the compass make sense. I didn't know there was a sub vault with combined clues , but at least I already know one message.

Hi everyone, This compass rose anagram still has me stumped. I cannot seem to find a six-letter anagram that the vault seems to like. I know that navigation is the key, but I cannot seem to navigate in a path that gives to a correct word. What am I missing? Is this word in English? Do I need to navigate then employ a decipher? This is my last puzzle for vol. 1, and this one's got me stumped.

I always get Roman lettuce and romaine emperors confused. Ha! Thanks! I could have sworn I entered this word once before, and it was rejected. Nevertheless, it worked now.

So, in my path to deciphering the symbols on the map, I realized that (according to the text in the banner in the lower left corner of Issue 3) that the game was over for all of you. It clearly says to me "You Win" Discuss

i've got how you decipher the "Words" on the map using the morphemes you get from the vault after solving other puzzles. I'm just stumped about how to decipher the compass and how it relates to the 6 letter code word. is it a simple substitution? what kind of cipher is it?

Can someone help me with unlocking the first layer of the map. I started out thinking I knew it. then after some time to think things through I thought I found it again..but alas. Now I read every hint through here (and some where actually in the direction that gave me my first findings). But coming at the end I am actually more confused now. And feel I am just making wild guesses without fully knowing why.

@ Todd: thanks for replying I did indeed seem to have mistyped. one positive point is that afterwards everything else went smooth. with the extra research and glints of hints.
So although no new answer box comes up and I think I can start at issue 2 now. I am still left with things I amused that would be clues later on. Like the lilluput sticker which has clearly 3 sizes of little dots. that was sure of that would be needed somewhere....

Ugh! This is my first issue of C&C and I'm stuck on the map! I've got the compass word, but I don't know where to go from there. Am I supposed to shift the word search words? Earlier someone posted the complete list of words for the key vault. I have no idea how they came up with them. At this point, if someone wants to blatantly spell it out for me, at least I could understand the mechanics for solving it. I've got issue 2 coming next week! Please feel free to respond directly to me. Thanks for all your help!

Can someone help me with this one? I'm still really new to all this I'm assuming I follow the trail to the skull, however I'm getting too many letters? Am I taking each turn too literally? It's also hard to judge if it's a straight or diagonal.
