Could anyone give me a nudge in the right direction re: MTIAMT? It's the only one I can't get and it's driving me crazy, which is driving my family crazy.

This puzzle is driving me mad. I know I'm missing something that will just make me smack my forehead when I finally see it. I've read through several threads and I guess I need my hand held for this puzzle. Please, someone give me a big fat hint on how to get started on this one.

Bex, I would start with the film icon and the letters next to it. You are looking for a phrase. The icon in front of each series of letters tells you what kind of phrase you're looking for. The film icon is the easiest, I think, because once you get that one, you will smack your forehead. Each phrase starts with the same word and that word is very clear when you look at the puzzle box as a whole. Once you figure out that word, then move to the film icon and the letters that follow. Does that help?
And, for me, I'm STILL stuck on MTIAMT. Maybe I don't go to enough garage sales. One more hint would be appreciated so I can stop obsessing about this and move on...

And it often happens when a friend comes over and is envious of something you don't want anymore

I had to use sites with lists of phrases starting with the common first word for that one. Possibly because I'm in the UK and I hadn't heard that version of the phrase before. A more common version here (in my experience at least) would be MMIAMP.
