It appears that most (if not all) puzzles in this issue contain puzzles within them. Solve the puzzle on the surface first, then look deeper. Questions on either level should be discussed here.

I have completed the Crossword if anyone needs hints or help! Ditto. That being said, I've not gone any deeper on the crossword. I got the overall theme, as reinforced by the circled letters. I suspect there's a deeper level based on the fact that both the crossword and the word search are 15x15 grids and I know there's a connection between the two 5x5 grid puzzles on the page. Not sure if the connection has to do with matching the circled letters in the crossword to letters in the word search or matching found words in the word search to answers in the crossword.

can anyone please help me with 44 across. i dont read or watch Game of Thrones and i know its a reference I don't have it in front of me, but as I recall, the clue is something like "What George is missing in Westeros". It took me getting a few of the clues that cross it to realize that the answer is all about the author's name, not the books.

This is one of the "odd spellings" I came across. Apparently Navaho is also an acceptable spelling, making 48 down Hookas, which makes a lot more sense for butterfly pipes (think caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland)

This is my first C&C so i'm quite wary of overthinking it.

I think you are having trouble with the MPC's penchant for puns. 9 Down - It's amazing what a kiss will do. 16 Across - This "word" is disguised by its lack of vowels. 19 Across - All in one piece, but one letter short. 24 Across - Half of another word for a pair of glasses. 8 Down - This clue escapes me. I only know what it is because the rest of my answers fit. Perhaps someone else can help with the pun. 24 Down - This will become clear when you get 24 Across.

I may not be great at these extra clues 'll give it a try! 9 down After 57-Across has grown up and received his first kiss.
16 across Remove all the vowels from these furry bandits 19 across Most of the word is there, if it was whole it would be...

Ugh. Ok. Pun reader clearly broken. Need to check a couple of answers. 22 down. Thought I had it right but it appears not to be. 10 down is giving me a headache and 8 down I still don't get. Lastly 1 across is also hurting my head. Pun reader broken.

Lastly 1 across is also hurting my head. Pun reader broken. 22 down No pun here, just a synonym. But it's a synonym for what I would consider the less-often-used meaning of the word. 10 down Have you seen the new Ghostbusters trailer? They drive a Cadillac! 8 down There's a particular monster that is known to live in the billabongs down under whose name isn't far from a punny negation of itself.
