The travel article, mentions two books! The last one is Gulliver's Travels with the mention of Lilliput. But just before that, the author mentions a pickle war in which the Lamuellans got upset. That I believe is from The book Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams. In that book Arthur Dent gets stranded on the planet Lamuella, and becomes the planet's sandwich maker. There's also a mention of an Aunt Dimity, which is the title of a supernatural adventure series of sorts.

And the Jersey Devil is an American urban legend. Funny, this one was easy, because just last week I watched x-files S01E05 The Jersey Devil, which, as a German, I did know nothing about earlier :-)

There are many other references in the Maison offerings... I've found Adele, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Drake, Hozier, and One Direction so far. Many of them are legitimate hymns as well, though. It's an interesting mix! Let's not forget Bruno Mars (why doesn't Mark Ronson get any credit form Maison du Columbie?). I know the "extra" items in the packet can be part of the mystery. Should we be having a closer look at at these song selections?

Maybe...there seem to be twelve of them in the list, and the deal is 12 manuscripts for 1 livre (book?). Maybe this is what gets sent in it the envelope? 12 songs in exchange for 1 clue/book?

So I'm five days in and here's what I've got so far: Kick Assuming it's a treble clef, I got a word that starts with a particular letter. Word Search Found all the words. The overlaps of found words can be anagrammed into a word that starts with the particular letter. Patently Ridiculous Matched all the pictures to the patents in the list. The resulting 5x5 grid of numbers comes in handy later. Short 'n Sweet Got all the expansions and, using the pips under certain letters, formed a 15-letter word that starts with the particular letter. Spot the differences Found all five. Based on the context clues in the text, matched the layout of the differences to a constellation that starts with the particular letter. Crossword Solved the crossword. Circled letters make a word that starts with the particular letter. Minced Words Un-jumbled all the words, combine the circled letters into a word that starts with the particular letter. Perplexle Used the 5x5 key from Patently Ridiculous to find the hidden message. Found the maze but don't quite know what to make of that yet. All of this combined leads me to think I should be looking for other things centered around the particular letter, particularly in the horoscope and possibly in the "what monster are you dating" quiz. As for the Map, I'm still looking for an entry point, some thread I can pull that will start the unraveling. It's got 27 unique symbols, so either there's a repeat, a non-alphabetic mapping (to a dash or apostrophe, perhaps), or the symbols don't map directly to letters at all.

I've had this since Saturday, but I've only spent about 2 hours looking at it. So far, I've found
a pencil.

That's an important starting point. Being the newbie I am, not only have I been working in ink, I've been working on my original copy of C&C. When the next issue arrives in three months, I'll start by scanning/copying the whole thing so I don't destroy my original while working on it.

The second in fact may be the case, when I think about it, in the Medium is the Message there is an emphasis on the Oxford comma

I noticed an anagram on the map starting with a particular letter that actually now makes perfect sense when you lay out all the puzzles.

I really love how the "Yesterday Guide to Today" is all about snapchat. I've added our dearest friend and our mercurial puzzle editor
but so far, nothing on their chronological compilations Probably nothing, but I would so love for it to be something

Just had a thought: if solutions start with a particular letter and morphemes are somewhat important then perhaps we should play around with this letter, exchange it, or cross it out?

This article was the first one that really jumped out and caused me to do something other than scribble on my copy of C&C. Would you mind giving me some pointers on usage? I installed Snapchat and tried to look up Andrew McCabe, but didn't find anything. Also, I don't think I have enough depth on MPC to know who our "dearest friend" is.
