Ha, broke the first code. This may be too easy for the rest of you. ’

It's amazing. Either I'm extremely rusty, or their puzzle design is specifically designed to make me flail about for an embarrassingly long time until I find the solution; I don't want to admit how long it took me to solve this one. This same thing happened with the Kickstarter puzzle they shared; I must have stared at the part that had the solution for that one at least five or six times before I solved it.

I just received mine this evening. It makes a fantastic first impression; won't be able to work on the solve until this weekend, but I can't wait.

If you get a chance can you post a picture of the outside of the box? I’m willing to take what crumbs I can get. :} The outside of the box is very simple, just the logo you can see on the website, so no need to share it. The inside of the box is what stands out, but I don’t want to spoil that...

So I actually ended up having the chance to work on this last night, and to my surprise, it was both a fast solve and honestly quite meh compared to what I was expecting. The puzzles were fine but I wouldn’t say particularly creative, and there’s quite a lot of busywork in some of them. I was also really surprised by the first set of puzzles with how wildly varied their difficulty level was (one seemed so simple that I thought I was missing something).
Another issue: the final puzzle requires sending in an exact answer and at least for me, that answer is not accepted; I even checked in their clues to confirm that I had the right answer. Small update: after emailing them it turned out that they required an extremely specific format for part of the answer, one that I somehow did not guess even after four attempts. They've updated the system to allow for the variants that I had, but this was needlessly frustrating and somewhat bizarre given how commonplace what I was putting in was.
I’d give this a B minus/C plus. Presentation is great, experience itself not so much.

I finally finished Episode One and I really enjoyed it. I liked the varied types of puzzles, the email involvement and the storytelling. Can't wait for Episode Two!

Well, just finished Episode Two and it was leaps and bounds better than the first episode, and one of the more enjoyable boxes of this kind that I've done. A sizable number of puzzles and physical/digital items, some very clever and thoughtful (and on occasion challenging) puzzle design, and this one really makes you feel like you're a private investigator. The puzzles are kind of similar to each other (which makes sense given the narrative and what you're trying to find), but nonetheless each one requires a different approach. Also, this box relies heavily on deduction and observation compared to code-breaking, which was very refreshing. There are also an impressive number of fake websites associated with this episode (honestly, a couple of the websites may or may not be fake, this is that well designed).
Overall, this box is what I was hoping for from Detective Society, and makes me quite excited for Episode Three. Easily in the upper echelon of puzzle box experiences.

I couldn't help myself and bought the entire first season. They shipped me the first 2 episodes at the same time, and I received them both today. Out of curiosity, how long is it taking you guys to finish the boxes on average? I finished both in 4-5 hours. The second one took me a little longer than the first because I spent a fair amount of time sifting through the details and enjoying the story. Even though I think it's very well thought out, I am struggling with the lack of proof-reading and plot holes.
