- I'd be surprised if there was not another Cardholder's Kit offering this fall.
- If the contents of the kits differ from what they originally envisioned, and listed on the order page, I will assume it is because there is a world-building need for the substitution.
- Very shortly March will be upon us. I don't know if they're on track to ship on schedule, but I hope so.
I expect Cardholder's Kits to be an annual thing. The contents will be as described in the other thread, with one exception: Compleat Kits will be receiving the upgraded metal cards. We should be shipping in April, but once I know more exact dates I'll share them. — A

I received this email from Alice on October 4th.
First, allow me to apologize for the extreme tardiness of my reply. There was a technical issue that prevented us from seeing the emails sent to us. I'm really sorry if this caused any concerns.
For various reasons the closed border caused a serious issue for us. Many of the custom items for your order have been manufactured and are sitting out of our reach. As a result, we cannot issue a refund. I can say that we have figured out a plan for completing production and shipping our outstanding orders, and I'll be sending out an email to everyone this week with the details.
In the interim, the side story that was mentioned several months ago has been running for awhile now. Someone I don't know is looking for me, and documenting it on their podcast, Boring Crimes. I hope this story will help tide you over until we are able to share more with you.
I am very sorry for the delays and the extended time it took for us to figure out how to adapt to the changes that 2020 has forced. Best,
— Alice

October came and went without that detailed email to everyone ... And Boring Crimes is really taking off. And it's free. I appreciate the fact that you're impatient and frustrated by the lack of communication, but there is currently new online product every couple days that is building out a story about the disappearance of Alice, and which will probably cullminate in the release of the physical product. I'm sorry for your frustration, but I'm very intrigued by the universe they are building.

Be excited for the rest universe they are creating. I know I am. But not communicating with people who paid money is ill advised and unprofessional IMO. I love Boring Crimes. And I did back Feather. And I will standby to see how it happens. But being appreciative of the free element does remove responsibility for communicating about the paid one. Communicating costs nothing. Even if there’s little to update, it’s good faith to do so to your community. Just my thoughts.

At least they are finally admitting, in public, that there has been a delay, albeit they skate right past it as fast as they can:
Please note: This is a subscription preorder. We expect to begin telling A Feather in Dust in March 2021, and it will last for 6 months. Anyone who purchases before the end of the year will receive an additional 6-months subscription for future stories.

Well, so...what is it though? $200 for Feather In Dust (plus $50 postage to UK) for a six month subscription to...physical stuff? Online stuff? The final artifact still as sort of promised? And the extension of six months for extra stories, is that all online? What do we actually get for our money (and our ongoing subscription)? It's just all so...vague.

It's been a long time since I ordered Feathers in the Dust and there has been a lot of times when I doubted that it would ever materialize. One thought that I hang on to is the memory of when I first joined the original MPC. I think Tim Sullivan was part of the original group that produced the MPC stories in the beginning. I remember that the mailings were always late and they didn't communicate well with their customers and we were left wondering if the next installment would ever arrive. When the package came IT WAS EXTRAORDINARY! I'll never forget how exciting it was to finally get the package and all the doubt and annoyance vanished because the contents of the package was better than anything I imagined. That is the hope I still have and that keeps me waiting and watching.

I connected with Tim Sullivan yesterday, and I asked him about TBL's offerings for the future and about how critical being familiar with Boring Crimes is to being able to enjoy TBL. His responses in bold (posted here with permission):
The stories will be a hybrid of media, including physical items that are shipped to your door! However, most stories will also include audio (sometimes in the form of a podcast), video, emails, text messages and more. We’re not ruling out digital-only stories, but the types of things that will be included in the story will be listed plainly so you can decide the type of experience you want to have.
In terms of Boring Crimes, it is absolutely not required. Boring Crimes is a sort of prequel to what we’re doing. There will be valuable information within it, and characters from it may appear in or around other stories, but each story will generally be standalone.
I must say this helps clarify much of what I was wondering about for next year, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what's to come!

I bought this in December during the sale. I'm excited to see this come together! When I saw the trailer I just kept thinking of the Dishonored Dust District XD I need to replay that game.

So it's March now.. anyone hear anything about when Feather in Dust is going to be shipping? Has anyone gotten their membership kit for that matter? I mentioned in the Membership Kit thread that I have heard there was an issue with a single item in the kits that they are working to resolve. As for Feather in the Dust, it was implied to me that there would be an announcement this week that would be good news.
