Hi, I thought some of you might find this interesting.
It has lots of puzzles and looks just too cool. Let's see if I cave...

This looks incredible, but there are some red flags that make me pause. For one, this is a brand new company and the pricing is very high (though certainly comparable to say an MPC Experience). The reviews are more promotional reviews than anything from a reputable gaming source. There's extremely little detail about who any of them are or what their backgrounds are. I'm definitely interested, but going to wait until more information comes out.

I am in, for now. If I don't like what I see in the end I'll just cancel my pledge later.

I wonder where they are advertising? Or if they are bringing a fan base in from somewhere?
They've annoyed me already - I signed up to receive an email when they launched to try and get one of the early birds - they never sent the mail.
I also don't like early bird deals on KS much...it's annoying.
They have no pedigree on KS - this is their first creation, and they have backed nothing: this is quite a big warning sign.
Furthermore, you can see from KS that the owner of "The Enigma Box" based in London UK is one Armando Montes Lopez - a search for him at companies house shows he is resident in Spain, not England. The company was registered on 6th June, his occupation is listed as "Business Man" and their listed office of Kemp House, 160 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX is just a maildrop for a virtual office arrangement company.
Looking into his company's article of incorporation, you can see it was formed with 2000 £1 shares, of which Armando owns 1000 and someone else the other 1000: Pedro Jose Diezma Lopez at an address in Spain (his dad?)
Their statement: We are experts in adventures, challenges and designing logic games. Our team has years of experience in graphic arts and some of them are international leaders where it comes to designing new technology. We count on respected historians who have unveiled new tests, documents and have moved forward to amazing discoveries which have not even been made public yet.
is I suspect hyperbole.
For this KS more than any other I've seen, if you choose to back it please make sure you pay on a card that you can make a claim against in event of non-delivery.
(And yes I probably will back it because I'm weak and can't resist and the glitter allure drags me in)

God that post makes me sound really grumpy.
My only excuse is I started work at 6 this morning and am still going strong at midnight here in the UK.

Nah, you're not grumpy, just practical. Their Kickstarter responses have gotten better, no question. Still going to wait to see how it develops, as I'm wary regarding a number of the points you've brought up, but this does seem to have potential (and good to see that someone other than Pedro responded to a question).

Wow, it looks cool - seems like a lot (Apps/VR/Bits) for the cost though (which makes me suspicious - that stuff is expensive). How integral is the app to the experience? Will it just end up as a collection of oddities if the app goes obsolete?

I cannot bring myself to trust that campaign. Their dealing in superlatives aside - it is just bery unlikely that this product will end up being the best thing that ever happened to me - they promise a lot for a comparatively small amount of money.
Which is good, because I was going to cut back on the kickstarter a bit anyway...

It's funny; I Kickstarted this when there was way less info about it in the campaign and have stuck with it because it seems neat and because they've really done a good job of responding to people and adding info about who they are as they've gone along. But there is still something off about the whole thing to me somehow, and I still may cancel my pledge (them losing one pledge will not hurt the campaign in any way). One thing I'm trying to figure out is why this seems sort of sketchy to me but Simulacra, which note is also promising a gigantic amount of material at the Platinum level for not too much more than this, seems completely on the level.

I did not read about Simulacra yet, but the Enigma Box team seems prone to throwing around buzzwords and exclamation marks that do not necessarily amount to anything groundbreaking "Eight places/scenes accessible via 360-degree Virtual Reality glasses" means, in the worst case, "eight 360° photographs with a clue in it each viewed on a plastic version of Google cardboard". Take "Graphene key with NFC chip: We are pioneering the use of graphene, named “God's material” due to its incredible abilities and often considered the most powerful material in nature, possessing the greatest electric and thermal conductivity ever known. The key is coated with graphene." This one just reeks of overselling. "We have also developed 3D and augmented reality technology for fully interactable virtual reality objects." You mean, more groundbreaking and interactive than The Room?
If everything is the "ultimate" version of something and everything is "epic", then they are either the masters of all there is, or they set a very low standard for themselves...

If everything is the "ultimate" version of something and everything is "epic", then they are either the masters of all there is, or they set a very low standard for themselves... Perhaps it's also the fact that they claim 100+ hours worth of content and say that Fox News commented "...made an extraordinary discovery...". I'm no expert on quotes for the purpose of marketing, but I'm pretty sure that's not how you do them. Comparing their updates with Simulacra, too, I see another difference. Enigma Box posts updates talking about how awesome they are and pushing people to try to get to the next stretch goal. Simulacra's updates so far have seemed more human and less showboaty (even though they are also pushing the stretch goals, it's more subliminal, I guess), if that makes sense. I don't know. That's just my two cents' worth, though!

I must have missed that quote. I have been watching a lot of US news lately, and that does not strike me as a seal of quality at all!

Yeah, you've both convinced me to cancel my pledge. I had forgotten about the frivolous news quotes, and you're right, the whole thing smacks of boasting and preening, which isn't what you want to see. Also, I'm honestly concerned about their relative lack of English writing skills, which would deeply concern me with any writing-based puzzles and online content. I sincerely hope this turns out to be super successful and leads to bigger and better things from them, but there are enough red flags that I think I'm going to pass for now.
